[237] Struggling with my humanity or lack thereof therapy
[ Considering the nature of the group, it's unsurprising that it is being held in The Blood Shack. There is a sign on the door announcing that the bar is closed for therapy adding that if you're here for the 'Struggling with my humanity of the lack thereof' therapy session, please come in and make yourself at home. Someone (not Eric) has made over the bar so that it looks a great deal like an AA room rather than a bar. The tables are arranged into a square shape (yes, the way you used to sit in school). The bar is open, but the alcoholic beverages have been locked up. The blood taps are available and there's a selection of bottled blood sitting on top of the bar. It is clearly self serve. There's also a selection of pastries on the bar for those that like a little nibble with their blood. Next to this is a large fishbowl filled with folded slips of paper. There's a small sign next to it that urges each participant to take a question from the fishbowl, help yourself to some refreshment and have a seat.

On their folded slips of paper, participants will find such questions:

Were you ever human? If so, when was that? What are you now?
How do you define 'humanity'?
What is your opinion of humans? Why? How did you develop this opinion?
Discuss the relationships you currently have with humans.
What is the most important factor in maintaining your humanity? Do you feel it's important to maintain?
Has there been a change in your humanity, for the better or worse? What prompted that?
Discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of humanity.

Just in case anyone has any doubt that we're here for business and not pleasure, the jukebox has been locked down as well.]

ooc:as with other posts, don't feel limited by these questions. Feel free to add your own and assume these are just some of the questions in the fishbowl. Mingle, make new threads, interrupt threads and enjoy! Note that your character does not have to be non-human to be here! Humans struggle with their humanity sometimes too!

[She can definitely tell he's surprised, but she shrugs with one shoulder and arches an eyebrow at him.]

Debatable, really. Did you ever feel better after you turned it back on?

No, definitely not. But I'm not saying it's better to not feel anything, just that there are benefits.

[They just are completely outweighed by the negatives.]

I don't want to ever be like that again if I can help it.

[Anna studies him for a long moment, then nods a little. She hadn't kept up with Stefan over the centuries. Frankly they'd barely known each other back when he'd first been turned. But she'd heard plenty of stories about the Ripper from other vampires they both knew.]

They say that's the first step. [And yes, that may be the barest hint of humor in her voice.]

Yeah, well, I took that first step decades ago. The last time it got switched off was only because a certain hybrid Original decided he liked me better the old way.

[Klaus is such a dick and Stefan doesn't miss him at all, nope.]

[She actually grimaces at that. She remembers Jeremy telling her about that, and it wasn't that long ago for her. She wonders how long ago it was for Stefan. It wasn't like he'd aged so she had an idea of how much time had passed.]

[And as for Klaus? Well, Anna's not a fan either. She's pretty much not a fan of anything that's hurt Jeremy Gilbert, and Klaus's name is right near the top of that particular list.]

Well hopefully you don't have to worry about that again.

Yeah, we can hope.

[He didn't plan on messing up, but it was a hard road, and he couldn't say it would last forever. At least he had people he could count on to help, now that Lexi was gone.

Thanks Damon.]

What about you? Have you ever had trouble?

[Anna considers the question for a long moment. Has she ever struggled with her humanity? Definitely.]

Yeah. I have. After my mom was locked up in that tomb and Emily died. [She looks down. Being alone was something she'd never dealt with very well.]

I guess you can say I don't deal with loneliness that well.

[And now she's kind of horrified that she's admitted that out loud, to someone she actually knows.]

[He nods in understanding, knowing that feeling all too well.]

I don't think anyone handles loneliness very well. It's just a matter of what they do to try and deal with it.

[She's certainly not going to get any judgement from him, not about that.]
