[237] Struggling with my humanity or lack thereof therapy
[ Considering the nature of the group, it's unsurprising that it is being held in The Blood Shack. There is a sign on the door announcing that the bar is closed for therapy adding that if you're here for the 'Struggling with my humanity of the lack thereof' therapy session, please come in and make yourself at home. Someone (not Eric) has made over the bar so that it looks a great deal like an AA room rather than a bar. The tables are arranged into a square shape (yes, the way you used to sit in school). The bar is open, but the alcoholic beverages have been locked up. The blood taps are available and there's a selection of bottled blood sitting on top of the bar. It is clearly self serve. There's also a selection of pastries on the bar for those that like a little nibble with their blood. Next to this is a large fishbowl filled with folded slips of paper. There's a small sign next to it that urges each participant to take a question from the fishbowl, help yourself to some refreshment and have a seat.

On their folded slips of paper, participants will find such questions:

Were you ever human? If so, when was that? What are you now?
How do you define 'humanity'?
What is your opinion of humans? Why? How did you develop this opinion?
Discuss the relationships you currently have with humans.
What is the most important factor in maintaining your humanity? Do you feel it's important to maintain?
Has there been a change in your humanity, for the better or worse? What prompted that?
Discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of humanity.

Just in case anyone has any doubt that we're here for business and not pleasure, the jukebox has been locked down as well.]

ooc:as with other posts, don't feel limited by these questions. Feel free to add your own and assume these are just some of the questions in the fishbowl. Mingle, make new threads, interrupt threads and enjoy! Note that your character does not have to be non-human to be here! Humans struggle with their humanity sometimes too!

[Stefan sort of gave up trying to deliberately hide it awhile ago.]

Very few of use that I know were given a choice, but that doesn't matter so much anymore.

[Oh boy, can Stefan relate to that.]

[It doesn't matter so much anymore. To feel that level of acceptance with your situation--Zero's not sure he will ever get to that point.]

You've accepted it all by now? How long has it been?

I wouldn't call it acceptance.

[More like...resignation at this point. There's nothing he can do to change it.]

I've been a vampire for almost a century and a half now.

There are surprisingly a large number of people in my world who sacrifice themselves out of some misguided love or desire to be next to the vampire. They volunteer. Not all vampires can transform others though, thankfully.

Why were you chosen?

[Because why else would it happen?]

My sire, she claims she was in love with me. And my brother. Her opinon on that matter seems to change rather frequently, though, and she has always had a terrible way of showing it.

Maybe that is why she did it. Maybe she was bored. Maybe it was an accident. Either way, she'd been feeding us both her blood for a long time, even though she took my memories away so I wouldn't remember it. I didn't know until after my father shot us both dead for trying to help her.

[Wow, oversharing coffee ahoy.]

...

[He's not quite sure what to say. Honestly. Very rarely does he feel sympathy for other's stories but this one hits him hard. Betrayal by a loved one is something he can relate to as is the one you love being torn between two people. Combining the two into one?]

Did--[The words are literally a struggle to get out.] both of you feel the same way about her and know what she was? I don't know how the sire bond works in your world, but in mine it's very--difficult to go against. Pretty much impossible. It's just like being compelled but they don't even have to try, it just is.

It's this very reason purebloods in my world are so dangerous, they can build an army and compel anyone that stands in their way. Normal humans don't stand a chance.

She altered my mind, used her compulsion so that I wouldn't be afraid of her. She didn't need to do that with Damon, though. But yes, we both loved her.

[He shakes his head.]

Sire bonds are very rare where I'm from. That wasn't something we had to deal with after we were turned, and she faked her death anyway. We didn't see her again for about 150 years.

She claims she was in love with you but left the minute she turned you. Faked her death even. And I thought I was bad at this whole love thing...

She claims she's still in love with us. Sure had a terrible way of showing it, if it's true. The only thing I know for sure is that she cares more about herself than anything else, and she's been on the run for 500 years. Leaving us behind didn't make her lose any sleep.
