[237] Struggling with my humanity or lack thereof therapy
[ Considering the nature of the group, it's unsurprising that it is being held in The Blood Shack. There is a sign on the door announcing that the bar is closed for therapy adding that if you're here for the 'Struggling with my humanity of the lack thereof' therapy session, please come in and make yourself at home. Someone (not Eric) has made over the bar so that it looks a great deal like an AA room rather than a bar. The tables are arranged into a square shape (yes, the way you used to sit in school). The bar is open, but the alcoholic beverages have been locked up. The blood taps are available and there's a selection of bottled blood sitting on top of the bar. It is clearly self serve. There's also a selection of pastries on the bar for those that like a little nibble with their blood. Next to this is a large fishbowl filled with folded slips of paper. There's a small sign next to it that urges each participant to take a question from the fishbowl, help yourself to some refreshment and have a seat.

On their folded slips of paper, participants will find such questions:

Were you ever human? If so, when was that? What are you now?
How do you define 'humanity'?
What is your opinion of humans? Why? How did you develop this opinion?
Discuss the relationships you currently have with humans.
What is the most important factor in maintaining your humanity? Do you feel it's important to maintain?
Has there been a change in your humanity, for the better or worse? What prompted that?
Discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of humanity.

Just in case anyone has any doubt that we're here for business and not pleasure, the jukebox has been locked down as well.]

ooc:as with other posts, don't feel limited by these questions. Feel free to add your own and assume these are just some of the questions in the fishbowl. Mingle, make new threads, interrupt threads and enjoy! Note that your character does not have to be non-human to be here! Humans struggle with their humanity sometimes too!

Yes, I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of because of it. Was I ever human? Yes and no. Hunters in my world are descendants of humans who devoured one of the original pureblood vampires. They contain a substantial amount of pureblood in their system that enables them to hunt vampires. I was also a twin--something that wasn't supposed to happen. My brother had no hunting ability--I stole all his as well. I was two times more powerful than the typical adult hunter as a child.

The purebloods wanted a toy to turn against each other that would have the ability to do what they couldn't. Kill each other.

I was twelve when I was turned.

	She burned her own heart and then shattered into pieces? [ That sounds entirely too dramatic. Almost like a few someones exaggerated the story through the decades or centuries or whatever. ] I know of a vampire who was a hunter too. Of course he started hunting down his vampire children. That's how purebloods die. They don't turn to dust like most other vampires in my world. Their skin begins to crack like glass until they suddenly just shatter.

[Not dramatizing at all. He's seen more than his fair share of purebloods die. Most haven't seen any.]

It's not exactly a life you'd wish for others if you didn't begin that way. ...I know my world is fairly unique in that you can begin that way though. They breed and have children with each other.

You said you were turned at twelve. You don't look twelve. [ damon here was turned at twenty four and he's totally fine with being an eternal stud. ]

I'm a former human vampire and Yuuki's a pureblood. You can not get further apart than that. [He might be glaring at you a little.] She has a brother...or great grandfather...or whatever he is. He left her. They were expected to marry--that's what purebloods do. Her parents were siblings as well.

I was her foster brother. There's no blood relation between us.

	It's...complicated? He's actually one of the ancestors. I don't know the whole thing, it's not something I like discussing with her. Her views and opinions on him don't exactly...[He tries to say it in the best way he can but...he doesn't really have anything good to say.] They aren't really realistic. He's the one that orchestrated turning me into a vampire so I could kill the vampire that threatened her and protect her while she was human--because he was unable to due to a bond. He literally referred to me as her shield. The chess piece he'd carefully placed and raised that would destroy the game.

[So no. Not exactly about the triangle part of it.]

Even my feelings for her were probably part of that set up. Like I said before, I never had any intention of living long--I've never made myself his competition in this whole thing. There never was a competition.

I wouldn't have known her at all. Hunters and vampires aren't friends. Purebloods especially are very elusive and don't go out in public often. Even without the knowledge of our past and interacting with her as she is now--I know it was her and not the situation.

[Unlike when he first returned, he knows who Yuuki is and understands the position his own refusal to face his feelings for her put her in. How putting her in that position, rejecting her over and over while choosing a path that displayed the most monsterous actions of being a vampire. Choosing to destroy himself and become the very thing he hated rather than face that pain of emotional damage again.

Zero knows his mistakes and has been given the opportunity to face them here without the risk of losing her completely. Knows her feelings. Unlike home, they can be together without all the complications that came up to prevent even the chance of that. So yes, it's simple for them. Here. At home, she's taken his memories and will be dead any moment now. There's no future for them.]

It's called patrolling. I count heads and make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be.
