[Day 237] Self-Esteem Group Therapy Mingle
[Should you be lucky enough to get enrolled into this group, you will be led to the beach—specifically, one of the beach huts in a low-traffic area, which has been primed with an assortment of chairs organized in a circle around a table. All the delicious and comforting snacks and beverages you could want await you in the back of the hut.]

[It's a very relaxing setup: an ocean-side view, the soothing sound of waves washing along the shore, and the salty sea air permeating everything. Just ignore the bots hovering the perimeter a few yards beyond the hut. They won't bother you unless you try to escape.]

[On the central table are a series of activity suggestions:]

• Each person will take a turn around the circle saying their name and offering one positive quality or talent they genuinely like about themselves. Others are welcome to speak up if they share that trait. Make a friend!

• In groups or pairs, the participants will come up with three words that they would use to describe their ideal self, no matter how impossible it may feel to be that way. They must then phrase these into an "I am" statement, and the other(s) present will affirm them.

• The group takes turns focusing on one person. This person will become the target of a barrage of kindness: genuine compliments, hugs, high-fives, or other caring and affirming gestures are go! The recipient of these is encouraged to take their time digesting everything before the group moves on to the next person.

• Participants tell a story about a time when they felt as though they accomplished something that they are incredibly proud of. Big or small!

[... But feel free to come up with more!]

My sister calls me Dawnie, but that's different. Right?

[ Because it's her sister, and it's longer than her actual name. ]

Right! I'm thinking something more along the lines of... um...

[She taps her claws on her thigh thoughtfully before she comes up with something she hopes is suitable.]

Dawniella!

Ohmigosh that makes me sound like a Disney character, right?

[ Although she looks perfectly delighted at the idea. ]

[Calliope wriggles a little in her seat, sitting up just a little straighter as her silly idea is taken well. She's giddy and pleased.]

What's Disney? Is that a favorite story of yours?

[ It's immediately obvious that Calliope might be from another world or the past before there was a Disney. Because those were the only people she could think of who wouldn't know what Disney was. But she is oh so happy to explain. ]

Okay so there was this visionary kind of guy named Walt Disney where I'm from. He took a bunch of fairytale stories and made them into animated features. Like seriously cool and way ahead of his time. Lots of them feature all the princesses from the fairytales where I'm from like Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, Belle... Dawnielle would fit right in with them. All I'd need is a tiara.

Oh! I know about princesses! Not those in particular, but certainly the idea of them. [Maybe not tiaras.]

It's a fine and beautiful name, suited to the theme! And I think it would be lovely for you, too.

Dawniella and Callie, the princesses of therapy. [ She grins, seeming entirely too amused by the idea. ]

I like it.
