[Day 236 -- Voice]
[The voice that speaks is uncertain, and a little confused. She's new to this place and still startled by the fact she's no longer a ghost.]

Hello? Can anyone hear me?

Am I alone here?

[She doesn't think she is, but she's been alone so long and so many times that the idea that's she alone again genuinely frightens her. She'd walked away from Jeremy for his own good, but now she didn't really understand what was happening.]

I'm Anna.

Can anyone hear me?

it takes a moment for elena to reply after seeing this message; she's filled with wariness and, yeah, quite a bit of bias on jeremy's behalf. she's seen her talking enough to the others (to zatanna and bonnie specifically) to know who this is for sure. and although she's not exactly pleased to see her, she's also not pleased anna's here at all. despite everything, despite all anna's done, elena knows she's not all bad. (she did all of that for her mother; it only got jeremy hurt in the process.)

well, either way, this has to happen. ]

Hey. [ it's not exactly her friendliest greeting, but it's a greeting. ]

It's Elena.

[And that's a voice that shocks her even more than hearing Bonnie's. Bonnie's broken the laws of nature with some of her magic, so she can kind of understand why she might get trapped in some kind of mystical prison, but Elena Gilbert? Obviously the wardens have made some kind of mistake there.]

What are you doing here?

[Her voice isn't demanding, just confused. She doesn't hate Elena, after all.]

Yeah there was a long list of crimes they said I was here to atone for.

[And she really couldn't deny any of them. But she was bewildered as to what crimes Elena had supposedly committed. Jaywalking maybe?]

How long have you been here?

[She has so many questions right now it's ridiculous.]

[ sure, jaywalking. also accessory to murder and assault. the wardens don't exactly discriminate between self-defense and actual crime, and elena has been guilty of both. (she's stabbed rebekah, for one.)

being a vampire, elena's not surprised anna has a long list of her own and she can't help but acknowledge what she did to save her mother was probably on it too. (just like, she also has to acknowledge, what elena's done to save her loved ones.) ]

About two months. [ two long months. she pauses, decides anna deserves to know from someone, even if she doesn't want to - ] And we're told there's no way out. People appear and disappear and reappear all the time, but - apparently no one ever goes home.

[What she'd done to save her mother had definitely been on the list, and it was one of the things she had no real regret about. When it came down to it, people who loved would do what they had to do in order to help those they loved.]

Two months. [Her voice is uncertain.] But -- then were do they go when they disappear? [Now she's really confused. She assumed if someone who was there suddenly disappeared they managed to escape and go home. But apparently not. And ever, as Anna knows, is a very long time.]

[ this is the hard part. ] There's this dimensional stabilizer - or at least, that's what the wardens say it is. It takes you from home and if you disappear, apparently you get lost in it.

[ elena knows this is confusing - ] It's a lot of physics and... science, I don't know, I - I have my doubts. They can tell us basically anything. [ there's no way to prove it. ]

[Anna sits in stunned silence for a moment. She certainly hadn't seen that coming. Though maybe she should have. All the things in Mystic Falls, all the people who've already been turned. She's willing to bet the supernatural population there now outnumbers the human one. But she's still shocked.]

I -- I had no idea. [She actually sounds uncertain now.] How long ago did you...? [Her voice trails off.]
