[Day 234] Enchanting Concert Mingle

Um... hello!

[Dressed in a elegant black dress and gloves, Yuuki appears on screen, smiling sheepishly. She's at the beach, which is, of course, a little brighter than she likes. But the location aside, she's situated beneath a tree at the moment, and would look comfortable... if she weren't, obviously, a little nervous. She clears her throat, and bows after a moment.]

Ahem-- today I'm performing on the beach. It's-- well, it's something that I have to do. [A punishment] But I've worked really hard. [And the wardens want it to be public.] So if you don't have anything better to do... you're welcome to come and watch. We'll be starting shortly. Aha-- at the very least there's going to be snacks and food! So even if you don't like the performance, you can remember the delicious foods, right? Mm! Thank you.

[With a bow she expels a breath and cuts the feed.]

[There's a shaded mini stage put together over on the beach, with refreshments and snacks around and about. Nothing too large, but cozy and there's plenty of food to go around. Ice cream and popsicles (which you can never go wrong with) in addition to more savory snacks, such as takoyaki among other things. It's bigger than the girl at the center of attention would like. But she's going to see this through, even if the person who had originally helped train her rigorously to perform the songs isn't here any more.

On stage, she's wearing the pretty black number that Hikaru has carefully picked out for her. And despite her nerves from before, she's composed now. Training in how to handle herself in front of an audience (granted one at a ball) has proven to help when it comes to dealing with a large amount of people publicly. So, as she introduces herself once more, and her eyes swim about the beach to find Zero, and the rest of her roommates, she manages a smile.]

Mm... I've worked really hard on the songs for today! I wrote them together with Sheryl-san... so even though she's not here any more, I hope that I can convey them the way she would have liked. So for those of you who decided to come and listen... thank you!

[Taking position on stage, she waits for the sound of the music to begin, before her voice rings out. Filling the air and network, emotions wrap and coil around every lyric as she hopes for and wills the audience to become absorbed in the music and the listen to her.]

Mm... Although I'm not really sure what that means... [She tries to think of how to explain it.] I come from... I guess you would consider it high society. My family was very protective, though.

[Total and utter understatement.]

For a little while the aristocracy was aware that I existed, but not what I looked like. A little while back my older brother allowed me to finally make a debut in front of the nobles though.

[Care... she wonders about that. She'd been happy by his side. But in the end he had still abandoned her...

For a moment she's quiet. She isn't really sure how to answer, not without letting a little of the pain show.]

Because there was a bad vampire that wanted to eat me, due to my lineage and blood. [Simple and honest] In regards to that my parents... disguised me for as long as they could. And when that spell broke, my brother kept me hidden.

[She shakes her head, though]

But... you're wrong about my brother. He left. Originally we had planned to spend eternity together, but... ultimately he had a change of heart. He's done a number of unforgivable things since then.

Always and forever Until he wrapped his arms around her throat and disowned her.] My own brother betrayed that sort of promise as well. Brothers can be fickle that way. 	It's a long time isn't it. Eternity... a lot can change. [A faint smile.] But I have confidence that there are some who can stick it through. At least... Sometimes they do. But sometimes the person who loved another changed too much. Can't love the way they used to anymore.

[This much Rebekah knows. Once upon Niklaus loved her, maybe a part of him still does despite everything else, but it's become twisted, mutated by centuries and his paranoia.

Love, family, these things do not conquer all.

Rebekah has learned that lesson the hard way.]

[A quiet, slow nod. A thousand years old...]

In my world, only the pureblood can live for all eternity. Mother and Father... both of them were over three thousand years old before they were murdered. But they were still so happy till the very end.

[All she can remember from them is love and warmth. She refuses to forget them ever again.]

But many of the pureblood lose themselves along the way. Because through the long passage of time, so much can be lost. Undoubtedly when the world changes but you don't... it has to be difficult.

[Glancing up at her, Yuuki smiles faintly.]

I'm only seventeen. And I still can't fully grasp what eternity means. Even if I feel it all the way down to the deepest levels of my DNA. Is it really so painful... that the pureblood have to become numb to humanity, and therefore take it for granted? Even if many sad things happen, it's still possible to find a reason to live for, right...?

Only my family had lived that long in my world. We were the Originals.

[The first of their kind. And nearly unkillable -- except there's only three of them left now. And none of them are close to happy, least of all together.

It's hard not to get lost in her own thoughts and feelings at Yuuki's words. She's not sure how to reassure the girl, or even if she should.]

I think that if you can't find things worth living for, if you don't allow yourself to find things to love and enjoy -- life will become much more miserable. Older vampires often become detached, some even paranoid in time.

That sort of life only leaves you alone, eventually.

[Even when Niklaus isn't around he is often on his sister's mind.]

My brother would like to make me human. Because he agrees with that. And yet that's what I prefer for him, because I know he's already given up.

[He doesn't have hope any more for his own happiness.]

To be honest, I don't want that for myself. Although I might not want to live forever, I can do a lot more as I am now. [If they are the way they are, there's a reason. There has to be.]

	I wanted to be human. Back home, there had been a cure for it but I wasn't able to get it. I would have taken it though. [Without even thinking twice.] I've lived a thousand years. I've had that life, and it's never made me happy. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I see... [She must be melancholic if that's all she can think to say. For a moment, she's quiet.]

But the fact that you want to be human, means that you aren't so detached as to think of yourself as above them.

[A pureblood like her, who wouldn't want to injure or hurt others... maybe? Of course she can't tell, but even so it's what she wants to look for in others like her. Because those who hold an attachment to humanity are so far and between. The pureblood just become too desensitized.]

My mother had wanted to be human, too. She even... made sure to attend a human school. That was the kind of life she wanted. And for me as well.

[Rebekah's been desensitized before. She's killed for pleasure, tortured for fun, but it's never made her happy.

More than being human she wants a clean state. A chance to be happy.]

I attached high school for the first time in the past year. All I wanted were those normal experiences, a simpler life. Immortality, longevity, it doesn't bring happiness.

Always and forever is a promise children make to one another, but the reality of it is devastating.
