Day 233 Video and Action

[Mal's wearing a cowboy hat and, though he looks a bit hung over, he's also grinning. Every once in a while, there's a whicker that sounds like a horse, and a horse's mane invades the video.]

Did ya'll know we had horses here?

Mal's pretty ecstatic to find the horses. He wasn't so happy about jumping through the hoops to get the license to be allowed to ride the horses, but any annoyance fled once he saddled one up and took her out. The mare ran quickly and he almost forgot his discomfort of the water as he rode along the beach. Anyone could encounter him either on horseback or later finishing up his ride and taking care of the horse after.

[Generous. It's more that the whole drinking himself into oblivion had felt awful the next day, and he was excited about the horses. Maybe the horses were good for him. But he still missed his crew.]

Horses need to run and graze and generally have someone carin' for 'em. Don't know if the bot thingies are the best. Might as well teach everyone else about 'em.

You've never ridden before you say?

	I haven't. It's something I knew other people did, but not part of my life. [Stars and horses aren't compatible. When in the sky, anyway.] The bots are very strict with animals. But they don't always know what we need, so you could be right to doubt their abilities here. [Understatement, or they wouldn't be here in the first place.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Mal grunts, and that's about all he has to say regarding the bots and their animals.

"Horses is part o'life for those that live planetside where I'm from. Those in the air ain't got much use for 'em. But anyone that grew on border planets, they learned t'ride. Easiest way to get from home to market."

He walks through the stables until he finds a rather docile mare.

"She'll be the right one fer'yeh. Come on. Say hello.

	She takes that for agreement, and his story distracts her. A different human civilization! She ponders telling him that humans in her day had just begun with cars. If someone was in the air, did they speak with stars? "Ah, hello." Yvaine lifts a hand to pat her. It's what people did to befriend horses. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Mal smiles at the interaction. Small, but it's always good to see horse and human meeting for the first time. He leaves the stall door for a moment as he grabs a blanket and a saddle. "Yeh wanna put the blanket on firs'. Then we buckle the saddle..."

He walks her through all the steps of getting the horse ready to ride, giving the necessary assistance, but mostly letting the blonde woman figure it out herself.
