[ Chuck was not the kind of girl who took misfortune lying down. Sure, it might be scary and disorienting, waking up in an unfamiliar place and realizing that someone must've undressed and then redressed her in her sleep but moping about it wouldn't get her anywhere. Besides, after her last conversation with the Piemaker this sudden change of scenery came as more of a blessing than a particularly rotten cherry on the top of an already sour ice-cream sundae. At least it gave her something else to think about.

And so the girl called Chuck had distracted herself with picking out suitable clothing, fixing her hair and, which may or may not still be important, picking an alias. Now dolled up in a pretty red dress, scarf and sunglasses, she prepared herself for addressing the network that had humming with activity ever since she woke up, not unlike her own beloved beehives. ]

Hello... Marina, was it? My name is Kitty Pimms. I'm new here. I can't say I know a whole lot about prison etiquette, but it only seemed appropriate to say hi and this doesn't seem like your average prison anyway so... hi! It's nice to meet you.

And, uh... Olive? Emerson? [ A pause that could only be called pregnant. ] ...Ned? If any of you are around, now would be a good time to say so.

((ooc: Chuck is officially in Marina and with no memory of her 4th wall visit! She can be found wandering sectors 0, 3 and 4 if you'd like to bump into her! ))

I could say the same thing which probably doesn't speak too highly of our lives when you think about it.

Expect the unexpected comes to mind.

Probably not. [ Amused. ] That sounds like good advice for life, if you ask me. Nothing prison specific? Any communal showers I should be avoiding or gangs to look out for?

There are a few fairly aggressive study groups I'd be wary of, but they usually announce their meetings well in advance.

[ Laughing. ] I'll make sure to look out for them. Thanks, Ianto.

Always happy to help, Miss Pimms. Are there any other questions I can answer for you?

Please, call me Kitty. [ A name she will forget is hers in... well. Sooner rather than later. ] Well... we covered the hostile study group and the expect the unexpected...

Is everything really for free here, or does the bill come later in the shape of rock breaking?

[He can't help coming off like a butler sometimes and this has been one of those times.]

It really is free, and there's a shockingly wide variety of things considering it's a prison. They have a library, bars, a beach, even a spa. As for breaking rocks, they did transport us to another facility recently to make some repairs on one that was a bit more focused on the rock breaking but we weren't there long, fortunately.

So there's more than one prison? Did you get to meet other prisoners? [ Maybe they're just separated... ]

Yes, and some of the people here were in a different facility before I arrived. There were no other prisoners, but all of them seem to be controlled by AIs, so I would guess the same people are responsible for all of them.

And there's nothing anyone can do about this? Rebellions, petitions... food strike? We can't just let them treat us like this!

Well it's admittedly a bit hard to reason with evil robots. I speak from far too much experience.

Really? You're an evil robot negotiator?

Sort of. I hunt aliens for a living, and the two sort of cross over occasionally.

Of course. You can't have aliens without evil robots. [ This place. ] So wait, do you hunt them in the elephant gun sense or is it more of a bounty hunter type of deal?

It sort of depends on the situation, I suppose. Usually the guns blazing save the world type of thing, really.

Well there's a lot more paperwork and coffee making involved than they show in those. [To be honest, he's more of a secretary.]

To be fair, I don't think most people would want to watch an action movie if they showed all the paperwork and coffee making. Guns blazing is a lot more exciting, unfortunately.

Well, someone has to save the world from poorly alphabetized folders with notes on aliens, after all. What about you? What do you do for a living?

Me? [ Well... no harm in telling the truth there. ] I work in a pie shop, actually. And sometimes I help out this Private Investigator I know — no world-saving, guns-blazing stuff I'm afraid, but it can get pretty exciting.

I suppose I'm not really one to talk about odd jobs. You should consider starting a pie shop here; I'm sure it would be popular with everyone. Well, almost everyone. I don't think vampires eat pie.

Yeah, I uh... [ Wow that is a terribly loaded suggestion. Not that he knows it. Not that he needs to know it. ]

I'll think about it. I should probably find someplace to live first.

[He's observant enough to notice when someone is uncomfortable, and tactfully lets it drop.]

Well luckily there are quite a few apartments here. I'd be happy to give you a tour, if you'd like, or I could just point you in the right direction.
