[ he hadn't really been around her much when her emotions are off, but he'd been the one to get her to turn them back on. matt paid the ultimate price in order to jolt elena back to herself, something that could've been permanent had he not been wearing the ring. he saw what it did to her in the aftermath of coming back to her senses, her emotions. the fact that damon felt it best to make her turn off her feelings in the first place still pissed him off. coward's way out. ]

	No. Nor do I want us to resort to what we had to last time to do that. [Ring or not, Rebekah doesn't want to see Matt die again. There has to be something else, some other option or something. 	Normally, I wouldn't condone the whole compelling thing, [ given the things he doesn't remember, given what happened to his sister and what jeremy told him elena had damon do that one time ] but if it comes to it and you can use compulsion to get her freedom to make her own choices back...
