[Day 231 | Voice | Open]
[There's definitely some aspects of the hero gig that Wally missed since he decided to retire and give the normal life a try. But finding himself in strange places with no idea how he got there certainly wasn't one of them. Especially when that strange place happened to be some sort of underwater dome. And while he missed out on the normal welcoming message that usually greeted new arrivals, he quickly gathered that this was some type of holding facility thanks to the orange jumpsuit and power suppressing anklet he's been fitted with.

At first he thought that all of this might've been the work of either The Reach or The Light, but the more he explored the place, the less likely he thought that to be the case. Neither one of them would have been so kind to dump him in a place this nice. So figuring there's only one way for him to get any real answers, he uses the communicator he's been given to send out a voice message on the network. And for some people in Marina, his voice might sound very similar to someone else's they already know in the dome, if only a little deeper.
]

Well I must say that this is quite the dome you guys have here. I mean, I'm sure the prisoners at Belle Reve would kill to have a beach, an arcade, or even a...Plush Rump of their very own.

But who exactly do I have to thank for my impromptu underwater vacation? It's not that I don't appreciate it, but I was kind of in the middle of something important back home. [Helping stop alien invasions still count as being important, right?] Though I'm guessin' I'm hardly the first one here to make that claim, huh?

[Sigh. This really wasn't the "welcome back" he was looking for after temporarily rejoining the team.] Man, Artemis is so going to kill me for this.

[OOC: 21-year-old Wally West/Kid Flash from Season Two (Episode 19/"Summit") of Young Justice. Also, feel free to run into him wandering around the dome throughout the day!]

Artemis would kinda be a hypocrite if she killed you for landing up in here, champ.

[Bart can't quite disguise the worry in his voice, though, no matter how much he's trying to sound natural.] You okay? You don't quite sound like... you.

[Okay, not only does this guy's voice sound an awful lot like a certain relative of his, but the guy also appears to know Artemis and called him "champ". Could it really be...?]

... Uncle Barry? [Not exactly an answer to Bart's question, but the fact that Wally called him Barry and is surprised to find him here should be even more proof that something is different.]

[Note to self: ask Wally's uncle why the crap he thought "Barry" was a good nickname.]

Not exactly. [At least he's better informed this time!] I'm your uncle, but I'm sorta-kinda from your past. [He thinks. The timelines were a bit off in their worlds.] You don't remember that?

[Wally really wishes he did remember what this Barry(?) was talking about since it would save him from the headache he knows he's going to get from trying to figure this out.]

Sorry, but the only time traveler I can remember meeting is my cousin back home. [So he isn't a complete stranger to that, but the same can't be said for the alternate worlds and differing timelines that this place produces.] And just how is someone sorta-kinda from the past, anyway?

Our timelines didn't quite add up - so I guess it'd be more accurate to say I'm from some kind of "alternate universe."

I'd explain it better, but I'm not too sure I get it myself. [From the sounds of it, it doesn't quite sound like his Wally either. Maybe this is also another "alternate universe" thing? If so, Bart really wishes he could punch the multiverse sometime.

He'd ask where Wally is, but it's faster simply to start running around until he sees the guy.]
Any chance I can meet up with you? In person?

[There's a long moment of silence as Wally internally debates on whether or not he wants to meet the guy claiming to be his uncle from an "alternate universe". He is stuck in a prison after all, and it's not like he has access to his powers thanks to the anklet. But he ultimately decides to let his own curiosity win out.]

Sure. [Now let him take a look around to see where he is.] Do you know where the bowling alley is?

Sure do! [He's not quite in that sector yet, but he's also a speedster. It's only a matter of seconds!] Be there in a---

[The last word's muffled by a large gust of wind. Bart's screeching to a halt in front of him, though he does have the courtesy to at least not crash into Wally. Bart's trying really hard not to look as surprised as he feels, but...

Man, how is it that the kid nephew turned out to be taller than him?]

[To say that Wally was a tad bit skeptical about the whole "alternate universe" explanation would be an understatement, but he becomes more of a believer after he gets a good look at the guy who suddenly screeched to a halt in front of him. He may be younger and shorter than the Barry Wally knows, but there's no way the uncanny resemblance to his uncle is a coincidence. He even has the super-speed.

He blinks a few times with his mouth hanging open in shock before:
] You...really weren't kidding, were you?

Not really. [His surprise quickly morphs into amusement - it takes all of Bart's strength to not laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all. Just wait until the kid finds out exactly why Bart's in prison...]

I mean, I haven't exactly met you in my world yet, but I figure it's only a matter of time.

[At least you're somewhat use to the absurdity, Bart. Which is more than can be said for Wally, and is why his brows furrow in confusion as he remembers something you said earlier.]

If we never met in your world, then how would you know if I didn't sound like myself?

Oh, there's a younger you around here. [He shrugs, gesturing towards the rest of the dome.] Not really sure where he ran off to, but he shouldn't have left.

[Bart hopes. Who else is he going to race and run laps around if the kid's gone?]

[Do you get enjoyment out of lapping your 16-year-old nephew Bart?]

A younger me? [He would say that wasn't possible, but none of this seems like it'd be possible. And yet, here he is anyway.] Is that how you know Artemis?

[Would he be a bad uncle if he said yes...?]

Nah. I mean, he told me about her, but I met Artemis when I first came here a couple of weeks ago. [From the sounds of it, he doesn't sound happy about it.] I can get why I'm in here, but them? Y'all don't deserve that.

[He can have a pass this time since he's new to the uncle thing.]

And why do you deserve this? [If this guy is anything like the uncle he knows, then he definitely wouldn't deserve to be stuck in a place like this.]

[Right, he'd never exactly told Wally about his past, and he'd hoped that he could've kept it that way. He shrugs, unable to look his nephew in the eye.] I've done some stuff I'm not proud of.

Most of it was a long time ago, back when I was a stupid teenager, but this place thinks I've gotta make up for it.
