[A little, huh. God, that feels like ages ago. How is it that a bunch of living vampire hunters felt like nothing now? At least they weren't ghost vampire hunters. The kind that don't actually stay dead.

He almost felt bad about throwing that one hunter off the cliff. But not really.]

That was back in time for me, yeah. Stuff got... worse. But I guess it got better.

[ she's been spending some time in the blood shack today, so that's where she is when she notices this post. oh. wow. that's...

just the person she wanted to see, actually, but it's hitting her harder than she expected it would. seeing him again is wonderful. she's missed him, hated every moment that she was angry with him. they haven't had nearly enough time to work things out and now that she's seeing him again... well, she'd like to be able to take that time now. whether or not they can is another story entirely.

so after a moment of just watching him, she finally tries to respond. ]

Ric... I didn't know you were here.

[ lame, awful start, but it's all she's got at the moment. she offers him a smile, though it's tinged with the tears and worry she's trying so hard not to show. she's scared, but this isn't about her. this is about him and this place and damon being here and the fact that she doesn't know where elena is. this is about everyone else but her and so she's trying to put on a brave face.

Searching and expecting to find her and coming up empty. Maybe original vampires get their own personal limbo.)]

Jenna. [He grins and it's entirely real. Totally not... completely... okay, he's choking up. Trying not to. She doesn't seem dead. In the least. She looks alive and healthy and unsacrificed.

It sucks he can see right through her. Sucks more she'll know his face is just as fake.] Yeah, it's... it's a surprise to me too.

[ they'd said she had found peace, that she wasn't on the other side, that she had... moved on. not that she knows any of this. for all she knows, she just hangs out at the salvatore house while everyone else runs off to ruin klaus' sacrifice. she hasn't yet experienced anything else.

likely for the best.

she studies him for a moment, worry in her eyes. they can both see through each other and it's awful to realize there's something he's not telling her. she'd thought they were beyond that.

[ Part of him (some tiny, itty bitty part of him) had hoped that Alaric would be appearing in prison today, so it doesn't exactly surprise him to hear his best friend's voice over the communicator. [Well, some tentacled thing. Might have been an octopus but he was too busy being concerned about the dome coming down to pay attention to if the tentacles were from a squid or an octopus. IT WAS HUGE though.]
