[ Time stopped.

There was a moment of silence as that half garbled message filtered over the network, a single call sign that would go undetected amongst the cacophony of tears and threats and fears of almost everyone who was newly dumped into the dome.

He did not believe his ears, but he could no less ignore that message then he could kill himself. His nature would not allow it. ]

[ Spinning into action, he quickly scooped up his device from the nightstand, coding in a filter he'd had no excuse to use as of yet, one cobbled together from everything Mao and others had taught him over the years.

It was as secure as he could make it. And then he spoke. ]

Bai.

[ Tt was sharp, all edges and slippery slopes. Elusive.

He spoke again. ]

You're here.

[ belief and disbelieving, merging together in the quick tumble of his words. If she was here, she was alive. If she disappeared, she'd take another chunk of his soul with her.

It would hurt. He's lost so much.

But he had never allowed inaction to hold sway when action was warranted. He would not wait for a response. He would find her. And then he would judge for himself if the pang in his heart was relief for despair. ]

[ he nodded, easing down the hall at a swift pace, not enough to draw suspicion, but quick enough to eat away the miles. Old habits died hard. ]

In ten minutes, I'll be there.

[ and he ended the feed despite how difficult it was to lose that connection. He had to though. There was little need to leave it on.

In ten minutes, he'll appear walking along the edge between Sector 5 and 6, careful to stay on the safe side of the barrier. While Hei and Bai alike could handle any creature that dared to attack them, he'd made an art of keeping a low profile. But he did not wish for Bai to slip into her deep slumber and so his stride lengthened, and his gaze was sharp as he searched out the undergrowth, the hidden branches of the trees.

He did not call out her name; there was no need for that. She would show herself once she was ready. ]

[ his gaze flicked off to side at the slight rustle, searching. If it was a beast, he was prepared, but...

He breathed a sigh of relief as his name filtered through the canopy and he turned towards Bai's voice, still searching for her slight frame. She was here. Or at least a seeming.

He was fool enough to care not if she was real or fake. ]

Bai.

[ he stepped up to the edge of the containment field, carefully looking her over, picking out the details he remembered, drinking in the ones that he no longer could. It had been five years too long. ]

You're [ alive ] well. Did you find any trouble? [ he suspected not, if she was awake, but it wasn't just her -- their contract that was deadly. ]

They aren't from our world. If our captors have been truthful, they're sentient.

[ but he did take comfort, wrapping his arms around her shoulders, squeezing her tighter then he should despite the calmness in his voice. It had been too long since she was held in these arms. His sister, his bright light in a world of darkness.

[She nods, taking this information in and filing it away. She's still trying to make sense of all the information she's been given and everything she's observed.]

Is this connected to the Gate? [She suspects not. If it were, wouldn't she be able to feel the Gate's presence still? Yet the thought of two world-changing preternatural events happening and being wholly unrelated is just as difficult to accept. She believes in coincidence, but she does not trust it.]

	It's nice t'meet you Bai. An' they say this place is a prison, but for some it's a home away from home. It ain't so bad if ya look past the fact we can't leave.
