[Oz is sitting at the beach in Sector One. It’s one of the first times he’s ventured out and about since that class about werewolves and how to kill them. Right now he’s sitting in the sand close to where the surf is coming in, his pants are rolled up so that the water just hits his feet and ankles before receding again. He’s leaning back on his palms, eyes closed, face turned up in spite of the overcast sky. He looks very calm, as always – very peaceful, as always. But also, as per usual, what’s on the outside doesn't always match what’s on the inside with Oz.

He’s enjoying the quiet and his solitude. But he won’t turn away anyone who might come across him.

I'd go with less freak and more useful ability.

[Plus, Oz knows there are worse things. Although everyone has their own cross to bear. Sometimes he wishes he knew what other people were thinking. Except there was that one time with Buffy when she couldn't control it and got overwhelmed. That wasn't cool.] You're probably really good at poker.

Useful to the people who want to use it, but... it's who I am and it's easier to embrace it than live the rest of your life in fear or ashamed of what you are. I used to hate it, and kind of still do, but in a way, I guess, you could say that I'm proud? Not that I can mindhack someone, but that I'm different, that I'm a part of something that most people don't understand, whether it's because they can't or they don't want to. Ignorance is a problem, and it's always gonna be.

[ she pauses, wondering how much she should say based on that initial feeling of turmoil and discomfort. ]

So is misinformation, like the kind that has people thinking my people are six inches tall, jingle, and make shoes.

Ignorance is a problem.

[He knew so many peaceful wolves back home. His entire pack was just trying to exist in control of the wolf rather than the other way around. And he knew from experience that the same could be said of any supernatural species. There were those hell bent on... hell, and those that just wanted to live peacefully... just like humans. That's why he had a problem with arming the public with the knowledge of how to shoot and ask questions later, so to speak -- how to kill without knowing there were other options to explore first.

He agrees with her about embracing what you are. It was only after he had embraced the freak side of him that he'd learned to completely control it.
] Sweeping generalizations tend to make things that might be difficult to understand easier to deal with. Which people are your people?

[ and she knew peaceful faeries and bad ones. like claudine put up against mab. which... ]

The fae. I'm technically only part, but they're still my kind. I got my telepathy from them, and my light.

Fae. Coolness.

[He accepts it just like that. He's come across fae before but they looked nothing like Sookie. But also, they're from different worlds, so it makes sense that they would be different. And maybe just as there are different kinds of wolves, there are different kinds of fae.]

What does the light do? Self explanatory?

[ sookie holds out a hand, generating light in her palm. it's a bright yellow for the most part, though shades of pink, purple, blue, and even green flit in and out. ]

All sorts of things. It's a fae's greatest weapon.

Cool. [ His brows lift, watching the light that stays stationary in her palm. It's similar to something he's seen Willow do before. But this one has more functions than just light. His supernatural wolfy senses are on high alert suddenly. ]

Plus, weapon. What happens when it touches other people?

[ she knows what happens when it touches other faeries and vampires, but not people. ]

I don't know -- not when it comes to people, anyway. I wouldn't recommend it.

[ closing her hand around the light, she snuffs it and absorbs it back into herself. ]

Duly noted. [ He nods slightly. He doesn't want to be the test subject for that. ] Being different isn't always easy.

Tell me about it. My whole life's been one difficulty after another, and it all goes back to being a faerie.

Being in a place where nobody wants to eat you for being fae helps with that.

I can see how it would. [ But. You've sparked his curiosity. He's thinking in terms of the way some people eat werewolf meat as a delicacy in some circles. ] People eat fae?

Vampires do. We're like the ultimate blood delicacy to them.
