Day 228 l Video l Open
[The old man on the screen looks dangerously calm for having just arrived in an undersea prison. Saetan has taken the time to find an elegant, old fashioned looking suit before switching on his communicator. Not only that but he has actually arranged himself in the library, and looks as at home and in control of the situation as if he were in his study. He does not look like a frightened new prisoner, which is entirely the point. He's not someone who is used to being powerless and being held captive is not about to make him change his attitude. When he does speak his voice is like thin ice, dark and cold with something deadly lurking underneath.]

I’d like to speak to someone in authority, immediately. I heard your clever little announcement, and you obviously know who I am. Prisoner or not you should respect me enough to speak to me face to face. I’m going to find where you’ve taken my Jewels eventually, and it would be in your best interest to resolve all of this before I do.

Really? How extraordinary. Its not something I've ever given any thought to at all. How do you accomplish such a thing?

I would love to see it someday, my dear. I'm rather sensitive to sunlight and it's been a very, very long time since I saw the sea.

It's quite a long story, much of which is technical background. But in short: capsules were designed which could support human life in a vacuum-type environment, and it was simply a matter of using those to facilitate the building of colonies. They're designed to be much like Earth in flora and fauna, but I must say there's not much of a comparison.

Perhaps you could see the beach we have here in the dome. Even at night, it's lovely.

How fascinating. There's never been need for such a thing where I'm from, but I'm nothing if not constantly impressed by human ingenuity.

That sounds lovely, my dear. In fact even the sun here does not seem to be affecting me as it usually does.

Perhaps it's because the sun is artificial. We're far too deep under the ocean to have true sunlight. I imagine it would be nice to walk in the light without discomfort.

It is indeed. I've seen more of it lately than I used to; my daughter is powerful enough to negate most of what it does to me, but it's still a very welcome sight.

What a kind daughter you have, though I understand her feelings. If I had the ability, I would have done anything to help my own father. Do you have other children?

Yes, my son Mephis has been dead in Hell with me for a very long time, and two others, Daemon and Lucivar who are still alive. [And two other dead sons who had never made it to Hell, but he did not feel like having that conversation.] My daughter Jaenelle is around your age, and I have a grandson as well. [If he had a wallet full of photos he would clearly have dragged it out already.]

That sounds like a lovely family. I'm a bit envious; I always wished to have a large family. But it was only my father and I, and now I'm the last one.

I'm so sorry to hear that, sweetheart. Loosing family is unimaginable, and I've never really found the right words to offer up some comfort after it, even after all this time.

The words you offered are lovely, and more than enough. [For Lacus, it really is the thought that counts.]

If you'll forgive my saying so, I wouldn't have expected the High Lord of Hell to be such a kind person. It's a surprise, and a very pleasant one. I suppose the stories in my world are very inaccurate.

Thank you, my dear, its very kind of you to say. In my experience it's an occupation that requires a great deal of patience; death is never easy, and it can be a hard transition to make, especially without someone to help. But I imagine the stories you've heard may be unfortunately accurate. I've done more than my share of monstrous things, and I do punish those who truly deserve it.

I've done my share of difficult as well, and punished a few who deserved it, of necessity. It is not a few singular acts that define a person, but what they learn from them. And it seems you've come out of your experiences with wisdom and compassion.

Its not often I get to hear something so sensible being said by someone so young. How very refreshing. Personally I've always believed that a person must do the best they can to be honorable and live with the consequences when they fail. I have enough power to become a monster if I do anything else.

Then I am glad you chose not to be. [She respects that decision very much. Kira is a person with the power, in their world, to be a tyrant, but he decided to do the right thing instead. It's a warm reminder of the good in the world.]

And as sorry as I am that you were forced to come here, I hope you find it as comfortable as possible.

[He's done enough horrible things to rob anyone of the ability to sleep well at night, and he has absolutely no intention of telling her that. Instead he just smiles fondly.]

If everyone here is as friendly as you are my dear I'm sure I will.

[Not everyone here is, but she's confident he will find enough who are, and know well how to deal with those who are not.]

I should very much like to meet you in person, sometime. Perhaps for tea? I make very good cookies.

[He positively beams at the offer.]

My dear, that would be delightful, especially after a day as unusual as this one has been.

I believe I could have something acceptable together in an hour or so. Or, if you'd rather settle in, you could call me when you have the time.

Well I hardly have anything else planned for today and it seems like a much more pleasant alternative to sitting around pondering my fate in this place.

I can't disagree with that.

Shall I come to you, or would you like to visit my apartment? [She has no qualms about having the Lord of Hell over for tea whatsoever!]

I've yet to look in to any sort of living situation so perhaps your home might be better for now, provide its not too much of an inconvenience.

Not at all. I live in Sector 4. [Here she provides the apartment number!] Please don't hurry yourself. I will keep the tea warm for as long as you need.

I will do my best to find it. It should give me an opportunity to see more of this place a well.

((Wanna start a new (backdated) thread for this so it counts towards this months activity or keep it going here? I'm good either way!))

((OOC: Here is fine! Lacus always has more than enough activity!))

[Lacus busies herself for the next hour, preparing tea, finger sandwiches, and Madeline cookies. One of her more prized acquisitions in the dome are her china dishes, among them an elegantly painted tea set. She arranges a far more worthy of a fine cafe than an underwater prison, which is just as she likes it.]

[It takes takes Saetan a little over an hour to arrive. Part of the delay is because he's not too sure how to reach the place, but he also doesn't mind the excuse to see the sights, not to mention being able to stroll through the sunlight without a splitting headache flaring up. Finally he does reach the apartment, one hand resting on the head of his elegant cane as the other knocks politely.]
