Day 226 l Christmas Party Mingle
[Ianto has, predictably, gone a bit overboard for the Christmas party he and Jack are throwing. The entire apartment has been decorated; there's a tree with gold and silver ornaments and twinkling lights, garlands draped over doorways, candles in every window and festive nicknacks scattered about. It looks like something out of a magazine, and may make visitors a little afraid to actually touch anything. There's also a lot of mistletoe around (one of the side effects of living with Captain Jack Harkness) so it's probably a good idea to keep one eye on the ceiling at all times.

Of course he's made plenty of coffee and some appetizers, so he hopes people really do respond to the invitation Jack sent out, otherwise there are going to be a hell of a lot of leftovers.]

[After a second... then a second more... of returning the kiss as much as her scrambled brain can manage, Garcia gently and reluctantly pulls back.] Wow. I mean -- wow. My brain can't handle that level of hot. Am I even speaking English right now or just random gibberish?

[His eyes are twinkling down at her, but there's the first faint hint of longing there too. Longing that can't, as things are, be satisfied.]

Is that so. [It's drawled slowly, with amusement, as the longing starts to ache a little more. Time was, he'd be spending the rest of this evening in a slow, sweet, flirtatious seduction of Penelope Garcia, and quite possibly Derek Morgan too, if he'd still been here.

He shakes himself and thinks of Ianto and everything they've got now and reminds himself how much he's enjoying that. Here, he can't have that and Garcia too. In fact, he's beginning to realise, it's probably not just being here that affects that. It's the very fact that he's not going round sleeping with other people that's given him what he's got with Ianto.

So he lets out a breath and smiles and says, a tiny bit forced:] I should probably let you go mingle, really. And go and be hosty myself.
