[ He's nervous as they head down to the beach, backpack filled not only with presents but with a few choice items as well. Ritualistic. A ceremony he hasn't been a part of for years and that normally requires a month of preparations but here they are in the land of last-minute-surprises and Aidan can't pass up this opportunity. It's as close as he'll ever get to a Winter Solstice celebration ever again and although it isn't a pig being slaughtered and there's no designated boulder here, he'll do what he can with what he's got.

Hands bare and reddened by the cold, he reaches out to grab Helix's hand as they walk. Nervous. Excited. ]

Hey, y'all. Happy holidays and uh... and all that. [ Unsure if he did that right. They don't do Christmas where he's from and that's very much the point of this transmission. ] I was thinkin', I bet there's plenty of us that don't celebrate th' way the Wardens've set this up. We've got people from all over the worlds after all, it'd be weird if everyone did it just like this.

How do you do it back where you're from? Do you celebrate... Christmas or is it somethin' else?

Oh, and uh... I'll be doin' a little celebration type thing of my own down at th' beach, if anyone wants to join. Just a little somethin' from back home... bring a cup, if you're comin' down.

[ Action; open. Aidan can be found down at the beach together with Helix. They've set up a fire in one of the fire pits and anyone interested will get an introduction to the godless earth-worshipping religion that Aidan is a surprisingly devout follower of. He can also be found scurrying over the dome throughout the day, delivering GIFTS to friend and foe alike! If your character isn't on the list but has some kind of CR with Aidan, feel free to assume they got something useful and generic like a pair of gloves or a scarf! ]

	Because it gave it to us in th' first place. We shed our blood and sweat, toilin' th' dirt... killing a pig and giving the blood back to the earth is kinda a symbol of that. It ain't like it goes to waste or nothin', we take care of th' meat. They're kinda bred for food in th' first place anyway. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Yeah... I guess. [ Little smile. ] Back home, it ain't all done in one day either. You got Crimson Eve some ten days before th' Solstice, so it doesn't feel so, uh. Intense, I guess.

[ He pours up some in her cup, holding on to it for a moment longer so he can explain what she's supposed to do. ]

It's hard work, livin' out there. Takin' care of th' animals, tendin' th' fields... there's always somethin' to be done. We put out blood, sweat and tears into th' earth, our very lives... and that's what pourin' th' blood over th' boulder is about. That's what we give to the earth.

Th' actual Solstice is one of the few days when we don't work at all. We spend th' weeks leadin' up to it cookin' and cleanin' so everything is ready, and then on th' Solstice we just relax and enjoy each others company. Some people go from house to house, bringing food or drink, others come visit relatives. There's a lot of commotion, that day. Kids, old people, family from th' other side out town, some people that've moved away come back... there's drinkin' and dancing and more food than you can imagine.

Then, close to midnight, we light th' bonfire that've been build over the blood boulder. Everyone gathers outside, pour up a cup of alcohol... and then as the clock strikes, we drink a mouthful and pour th' rest on the ground. This is the day we remember what all our hard work is for, what the earth gives us in return. Not just the food and drink, but the people as well.

Everyone who participates belongs to the family. They'll always have a home to come back to.
