[ Today is a Great Day. Double-capital letters, underlined with sparkles and everything. You could even call it the Greatest of days and it shows in Aidan's face as he flicks on the video function. ]

I got some great news, guys! I talked to th' wardens earlier today, an' it turns out they'll sponsor us with equipment and plants for th' memorial garden! I went ahead and claimed a spot in sector 4, so we should be able to get started any day now!

So, uh... yeah! That's comin' along! Lemme know if you've had any more ideas since th' last meetin'.

[ Aidan can be found down in the sector 4 gardening plots all afternoon, working up a sweat through weeding both his own recently claimed plot and the one for the memorial garden. Extremely amazingly good mood! Gardening does the soul good! ]

	This plant doesn't give us anythin' good. It's just sittin' there, takin' up space an' water an' sunlight that could be used to other plants that we want, like... like strawberry bushes that'd give us berries or flowers that look pretty. Weeds are pretty much just plants that grow in th' wrong place. There not always bad, they just need to be somewhere else. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[Caliborn contemplates that for a moment. He honestly has a hard time differentiating between this plant and that; a little bit of his learning problems and the odd way his thoughts work, and a little more of not wanting to put in the effort of overcoming it.]

[But he does actually get the principle. It speaks to him, in an odd way. And maybe he can dance around his problem without having to cop to it.]

Blah blah blah. All I needed to hear was. "This shit ain't useful to me." A guy can empathize with that, you know? There's too many people in this universe. Who are like weeds.

Now. [Caliborn hunkers down and surveys the plot.]

Can I just. Kill everything here? Without unnecessary computer bullshit. Tell me.

[ He will get the hang of this yet — it's just like with Helix or Sougo. Guys that seem all harsh and horrible on the surface, but all you really need to do is figure out how to talk to them. Learn their language. It's like any wild beast really, and Aidan's calmed down plenty of barking dogs in the past. ]

Right now? Yeah. We're plantin' stuff later though so you won't always be able to come here an' pull up everythin' you see... but if I'm around an' you feel like weedin' later on too, I can show you then what needs to go.

[Caliborn decides he will ignore the idea of discriminate killing later, in favor of indiscriminate killing right now.]

[Knowing that he can just tear things out with wild abandon, Caliborn leans into the patch, seizes a plant as though he could strangle it with one hand, and then yanks it out of the ground. He stares at the roots for a brief moment, idly pondering how much they look like veins or Red Miles, and then shrugs and tosses it over his shoulder.]

[If nothing else, at least it can be said that Caliborn is a natural.]

The only downside. Is that they don't scream. Or bleed.

Imperfect. But a fair distraction.

I guess you could call it that... alright. I'll tell you. [ Settle in, boys and girls! ] So, at th' beginnin' of spring we sow the fields. Wheat, rye, oats... sugar beets. Y'know, whatever we're growin' in that field on that year. [ He could go into the science of crop rotation, but won't. ]

They grow all summer an' then by the time autumn rolls around, it's time to harvest. You gotta do this quickly, cause you wanna leave it out as long as possible so everythin's good an' ripe... but if you wait too long it'll be ruined by rain or frost. 's kinda a gamble, y'know?
