day 224 | open action
[ aradia was thrilled to hear about today's museum exhibit. after all, she is the maid of time -- just because she's been plucked out of the practical application of her purpose doesn't mean that connection is gone.

wandering around the exhibit provides her with a sense of familiarity, one she hasn't felt wholly since arriving at marina. and so she can be found here for most of the day, a strange alien girl looking fondly at the same timepieces over and over. she'll happily engage anyone who approaches her.

[Miranda couldn't stay away from an exhibit on time of all things either. She loves clocks and just the sound of them tick-ticking is enough to make her feel at ease. She wanders the exhibit with her trusty satchel at her side as always. She's a bit absent though, lost in her thoughts as she looks at the various timepieces. When she comes to a tall grandfather clock with swinging golden pendulum and time just right she can't help but stop and admire it. And if someone else is there, well she'll have to give a small smile and a wave.]

Ah...hello! Lovely exhibit, isn't it?

Oh, yes, definitely!

[ she's visibly thrilled at the initiated interaction as she turns to beam at her new company. ]

What is it that you like about them? Clocks, I mean!

Oh, well, how they're so dependable! They keep going and going even when everything else is unsteady. [She admires how they keep pushing forward that way.] You can change the time or try to hold their hands in place, but you can hear it--the sound inside of them as they keep going.

[ aradia's eyes widen, as does her smile. ]

Time itself is a fluid, almost unstable, wibbly-wobbly concept, but the pieces to keep track of it must be reliable. You're absolutely right, there's a certain magnificence to them!

[The way she says that is quite confusing.] Fluid? Why yes, I'm agree with that. But unstable? No, time isn't unstable at all. It's more like a river. It can be very strong or very calm but it never goes back the same path it came down on its own.

My view on the matter comes from personal experience. It is hard to view time as incredibly stable when you've lived through loops and loops of it, some of those being doomed.

[ she shrugs, her tone still light. ]

[Miranda's been trapped in time loops herself, but even then, it was more of a small area going through it, not everything.]

Was this something you went through by yourself or was your entire world trapped in it?

A little bit of both? My world developed the way it did because of interference from influences in the past, so that's a large part of it.

[ even though it's a big thing, she sounds relatively nonchalant about it. ]

Influences from the past...? [Excuse her if she's rather confused by all of this.] Do you mean someone actually went back in time to alter things?

[That is a rather terrible thought. Time isn't just a song you can go back and rewrite once it's been done! It's not the same thing anymore.]
