Day 223; ☤ Open | Voice/Action
[Calliope clears her throat. The arcade's first-floor cacophony can be heard in the background, though muffled. Even though she sounds like Caliborn, she's so very much kinder and warmer.]

Sooo... This is "Callie"! Thank you to everyone who donated or traded your chocolate to me while we were at the other place, and to those of you who offered me kind words. I hope everyone is alright, and made it back safely! [Though she hasn't heard from Roxy.]

... on that note, has anyone else noticed bruises and the sort being in different places than they were yesterday? It's rather peculiar...

Um, but, anyway. [She sounds a bit more nervous, now, voice a bit shaky and laugh with an edge of giggle on it.] It's not as though there's currency worry about, but if anyone would like to be repaid in kind and company, I'm on the second floor of the Arcade with some snacks. It's the one with the tables and the card and board games.

Maybe we could also play something together? Oh- and we can also go to one of the other floors, if anyone prefers a different game! This just seemed the most fitting place to start at, with the candy and soda...

[Calliope really wants to spend time with everyone and anyone.]

[This is a bigger deal to her than it may be for most; she's so convinced of her own horrific monsterly-ness that she feels like asking people to spend time with her is imposing. Part of her doesn't even expect anyone to respond or show up, beyond maybe her friends from home. Still, after she learned about Caliborn's little frypan rampage and constant attempts at upsetting people, she feels a need to try and cement herself as the green-eyed cherub who just wants to make friends.]

[That is why, true to her word, Calliope is camping out at one of the game tables. She's wearing a hoodie tugged up to somewhat disguise her appearance, but she's on the lookout for people who appear to be looking for her. There are long moments of keeping busy by shuffling skills and snacking on her small assorted collection of candy, too.]

[And, before she tries to put it off any longer...]

[Private | Filtered to Aradia]

Umm. Hello, dear. Would you like to, ah... [She trails off, realizing there are approximately two dozen ways to end that sentence, and she can't pick one.]

[She smiles a little bit, despite herself.]

There are nearly infinite iterations of Earth and its sister planets and galaxies, so no one could blame you for being unable to keep track. I'm only closely familiar with two, really, and I haven't quite decided if I should make an attempt at sorting out and categorizing them all yet.

It's kind of weird how it's just that planet... least, as far as I can tell. Why is Earth getting all the attention and alternate dimensions? That's what I want to know.

[Studying the board an contemplating as many moves as he can think of as far ahead as he can.]

As far as I can tell, it's in part because a lot happens there!

But frankly, I've only seen species represented of a certain, ah, biological slant?

[And then, figuring she doesn't have to be quite as subtle:] It could just be that they're keeping all the very-alien aliens somewhere else.

Ah, yeah, I guess so.

Earth just doesn't seem all that special to me but. [Shrug]

I don't know that much about it. Humans are pretty garden variety where I come from.

[Garden variety like pretty flowers, right]

Humans aren't outstandingly special in the grand scheme, but they're still quite lovely!

[She moves a piece in a very matter-of-fact way.] I'm very much formulating theories on the fly, here, but it could be due to its importance in the mechanisms of cosmic reproduction; as one of the planets housing a species that famously plays 'the game,' it may be a sort of time-space hub that is particularly attractive to our wardens.

Even if most of those here aren't associated with that game, it would make sense for it drawing so much attention, compared to other worlds with sentient life that don't.

Not that it explains the relative lack of trolls, or other species whom have played it... [Was that enough rambling for you, Helix.]

[Nope, more like insects, but he won't shatter her love for them so easily.

He tries to listen to her rambling about the humans and the game and all of that. It all kind of goes over his head a little because, before meeting any of the kids from their universe, he'd never heard of it. It all sounds pretty fantastical and ridiculous but... who is he to argue if it's a thing that actually happens. They some how create universes from it, while it destroys the one their from.

He'll make his move.
]

Maybe your humans are different, but I definitely wouldn't leave that species up to creating a new universe. They spread like fucking cockroaches and consume.

[Calliope looks up at Helix, startled.]

[She looks back down at the board, both mad about what he said and trying not to seem angry all at once. Her tone is polite, but strained.]

Give any species a chance, and they'll do that. You can't square all the blame onto humans alone for wanting to prosper, even if it's unkindly at the expense of others.

Trolls have famously done it, too.

[He honestly didn't mean to offend, which is why he said maybe their humans are different. Different galaxies in alternate dimensions could mean humans act completely different from each other.]

My race didn't. [Stated plainly.]

And don't get me wrong, I'm not spewing some racial pride or some shit, I don't know anyone like me outside of my sister and grew up with humans. As history has it though my people only built and kept to themselves, they were happy with inventing and creating.

Till the federation came along and enslaved them to build weapons of mass destruction. Granted, it wasn't an entire faction of humans but it was created and mostly run by them and whatever other violent race they assimilated along the way.

[A shrug.] They were going to conquer and destroy with stations the size of a small moon. They bred us like animals and weeded out my people for the best and brightest. At least, until someone caught on and wanted to stop them before war broke out.

Needless to say they killed everyone and fled. As far as I know only my sister and I survived.
