Day 223; ☤ Open | Voice/Action
[Calliope clears her throat. The arcade's first-floor cacophony can be heard in the background, though muffled. Even though she sounds like Caliborn, she's so very much kinder and warmer.]

Sooo... This is "Callie"! Thank you to everyone who donated or traded your chocolate to me while we were at the other place, and to those of you who offered me kind words. I hope everyone is alright, and made it back safely! [Though she hasn't heard from Roxy.]

... on that note, has anyone else noticed bruises and the sort being in different places than they were yesterday? It's rather peculiar...

Um, but, anyway. [She sounds a bit more nervous, now, voice a bit shaky and laugh with an edge of giggle on it.] It's not as though there's currency worry about, but if anyone would like to be repaid in kind and company, I'm on the second floor of the Arcade with some snacks. It's the one with the tables and the card and board games.

Maybe we could also play something together? Oh- and we can also go to one of the other floors, if anyone prefers a different game! This just seemed the most fitting place to start at, with the candy and soda...

[Calliope really wants to spend time with everyone and anyone.]

[This is a bigger deal to her than it may be for most; she's so convinced of her own horrific monsterly-ness that she feels like asking people to spend time with her is imposing. Part of her doesn't even expect anyone to respond or show up, beyond maybe her friends from home. Still, after she learned about Caliborn's little frypan rampage and constant attempts at upsetting people, she feels a need to try and cement herself as the green-eyed cherub who just wants to make friends.]

[That is why, true to her word, Calliope is camping out at one of the game tables. She's wearing a hoodie tugged up to somewhat disguise her appearance, but she's on the lookout for people who appear to be looking for her. There are long moments of keeping busy by shuffling skills and snacking on her small assorted collection of candy, too.]

[And, before she tries to put it off any longer...]

[Private | Filtered to Aradia]

Umm. Hello, dear. Would you like to, ah... [She trails off, realizing there are approximately two dozen ways to end that sentence, and she can't pick one.]

[Peter wanders into the arcade, his hands in his pockets, a sheepish sort of smile on his face.]

Uhm...hey. How are you?

[Calliope looks up, equally sheepish, but certainly glad to see Peter. She waves at him as he approaches.]

Truth be told, I've seen better days, but I've seen worse, too.

And how are you, dear? [She gestures for him to have a seat, if he wants it.]

Still sort of recovering from the other place? [ he's curious, but he won't push too much if she locks him out.

He takes a seat next to her and shrugs.]
I can't complain. it's good to feel normal again.

You could say that, certainly.

[It is also not the whole truth. She's stressed out from feeling like she has to be more public about her own existence, but Calliope decides that Peter doesn't need to hear about her complex issues when they're still just getting to know one another.]

[And so she smiles, and pokes around the candy pile to figure out what to offer him first.]

What does "normal" mean to you?

[Since she already knows about Spider-man, it's an easy question.]

Super strength, amazing reflexes, accelerated healing, resiliency, acute sense of balance, hearing and sight...nothing that I used to be before I got bit by a radiated spider.

[Calliope looks awed as she considers all those talents. And because of a spider! She finds that very, very cool and she feels kind of warm and squishy as she thinks about all the cool hero things he could do with those powers.]

[But that's not what comes out of her mouth.]

So that's why you like parkour so much.

[Her response makes him laugh out loud.]

Yeah, I guess so. Before I was into skateboarding, but not so much parkour.

[She smiles at his laugh. Even if she hadn't quite been going for a joke, it's a nice reaction to get.]

Is that anything like a hoverboard?

Yeah, it's exactly like a hoverboard, or at least what I think a hoverboard is. Except it's got wheels instead of...hovering.

I've got one here, actually. I can show you if you like.

Oh! [She claps.] Please do! I've never seen either in person. Just in, ah, videos.

[And then she slides a gobstopper Peter's way.]

[ he grins, says thanks for the gobstopper and unwraps it, popping it in his mouth before he glances both ways then sets his backpack on the ground. He's got the skateboard bungeed to it. He undoes the skateboard and takes it to the space between the tables. At first he does normal stuff, just gliding down the aisle, turning, that sort of thing. ]

[Calliope was halfway out of her chair when she realized that Peter intended to skateboard inside.]

[That awkward squatting position is held for a few seconds more as she internally debates whether or not she should stop him. Eventually, she comes out on the side of "nah," and sits back down, watching him swerve around.]

Ohh!

Yes, exactly like a hoverboard. But I like the sound the wheels make! [-maybe that was an odd thing to say.]

[Well, they'd have to go outside if he was going to show her anything other than the basics. He chuckles at her comment. It is kind of odd, but also not really. Sounds are important.]

Yeah, I guess I kinda do too.

[She folds her hands together at the fingers, resting her chin on them. Smiles.]

[What she wants to do is talk about him as Spider-Man, because bloody hell a human with cool powers who saves the world, but she is doing her very best to be sly and subtle about it, rather than nerdy.]

[Though she may come off nerdy anyway, because Calliope.]

Is it decidedly and greatly easier for you to move around without a skateboard- in other circumstances, possibly involving parkour?
