There are many reasons why any individual would do that. It could be that you're suffering from a disorder that prevents you from experiencing events in what is considered a normal fashion, forcing you to play out the expected emotions rather than displaying them naturally. Another theory is that it's a coping mechanism to cover up your actual emotions, turning your reaction into a false negative of sorts — like a bootleg of what you're actually feeling, only it's been twisted by your need to protect yourself from displaying genuine emotion.
