DAY 207 ☆ VOICE
It's occurred to me that we're all stuck. Literally. I realize that I'm really slow with not having noticed this sooner. I'll admit, I'm oblivious and don't notice a lot of things, even when they're right in front of me.

What I've realized is that all the future plans Kaoru and I were making together, the accomplishments we have set for ourselves, none of them can be achieved here. We can't reach any of our goals here. Not only do I not have Kaoru, but the things we wanted to do with our lives aren't doable here. One may say that it's just not true; absolutely anything is possible if you have the determination to make it so. But that's not at all what I mean.

I can't possibly turn this place into anything we've ever fantisized about, and for what reason should I bother? We don't need to do anything here other than exist. I don't understand why anyone chooses to become a business owner in this place. Is it only to have something to do? Is it because you were a business owner back home, and it's your way of attempting to make this place feel more like home? There couldn't possibly be anything else to gain from putting in work of that level.

... That's definitely not something I hear every day.

Monologues like this aren't something you give every day.

That's true. As rare as they may be, I have my moments, I guess.

For what it's worth, I agree. Existence here is stagnant at best. There's no point to anything we do.

Mm. I can't believe it took me a number of months to figure it out! When we moved to the new location, I raved about this place. Now I'm realizing it really is a prison!

I'm surprised. What did you think it was?

Uh... Somewhat of an extended vacation...

What an understatement.

I know.

[He makes a sound of disgust!]

Definitely not my idea of an extended vacation, since if I had to choose, it would be more luxurious. But before today I considered it an okay attempt at being something other than a prison.

Did something happen to change your mind, or was it just, like... an epiphany?

It was like an epiphany!

Needless to say, it was the worst epiphany ever.

I want to return this epiphany! Can I get refunded and pretend this never happened?! I'd like to go back to my oblivious state!

Sorry, bro. You're stuck here in Enlightenment Land with the rest of us. Hope you enjoy your stay. Why not take up hacking as a hobby, then you'll at least have an end goal to work toward.

I could do that, but what if that means they'll put me in those tacky orange prison clothes again? Is this a risk I can really take?! Maybe!

We all have to make sacrifices.

Right. Well, it's something to consider. I'm sure there's a number of people with the same idea who can help make this possible. In theory.
