Dimitri's brows furrowed as he pondered that briefly. "If you cannot feel Lissa, and if those are the only things you could see, that could mean a few things. That we really are entirely cut off from anything outside of this place. And that very few have died here, human or otherwise."
Because she was right, he remembered being attacked by them, and it had felt like they were everywhere, all around him. One or two, and not even previously human? It was both comforting and ominous.
Dimitri shook his head, using his hands to brush hair away from her face...until he realized what he was doing, noticed how close they were. It made him back off a bit, as her emotions and his own reaction to them had seemingly overwhelmed him, and he looked a little exhausted as he sat back, though he stayed close.
"I doubt anyone could have prepared for something like that," he said.
