[ day 206 ] action :: open
[It’s very late at night in the prison, if anyone is still awake or out and about. Were anyone to pass through Sector 0 they might find an older gentleman in his Starfleet uniform sitting on a bench in the recreation area. He’s quiet and still, somewhat unassuming. He might even be mistaken for peaceful from far away. But were anyone to come closer, they’d find that he has somewhat of a perplexed look on his face, troubled or thoughtful perhaps. And his gaze is turned up to the top of the dome. Obviously he’s not as peaceful as it might initially seem.]

Irrelevant in the grand scheme, perhaps. But for me it is very much relevant, Seven.

[Jean-Luc had not spent his entire life on a space ship. Most of it, yes. But as a young boy he had dreamed of them, wished on them, sought them out and chased after them. And now... their absence made him very uncomfortable.]

In what do you find comfort, Seven? When you feel restless or frustrated, what do you turn to?

Aboard Voyager, I would find a task that needed to be completed and see to its completion or recalibrate the sensor array. [ pause, hesitation-- ] I used to play kadis-kot with Ensign Wildman's daughter, Naomi, or assist in her lessons.

Hmmm… [He hums thoughtfully, his lips twisting into somewhat of an amused grin at the picture of Seven in the company of children. And then even more so at the idea that perhaps she might be better with children than he will ever be. Of course, he had his moments, but usually they were only when forced.] When I first took command of the Enterprise, I was completely against the idea of families, much less children, on board. I felt they had no place aboard a ship of exploration given the possible scenarios we might run into. I have… over the years softened to the idea, although not completely. Never completely.
