I jus' wanted t' announce that th' Rusty Spoon will be undergoin' a name change t' Merlotte's an' will be officially open as of right now. As in all our construction is finally done.

I was looking' t'celebrate tonight an' I figure after all of th' therapy some of y'all could really use a drink er'two. This one especially goes out to everyone who helped me put everythin' together and t'make this possible. Thanks for all your hard work!

I'd really appreciate y'all comin' in and at least seein' th' menu or takin' a load off. I have a pool table an' y'kin play cards or jus' plain socialize and cure what ails ya. We made some finger foods and bits o'stuff t' sample from th' menu too.

So stop on by an' I promise ya won't have t'spill yer guts unless it's t'the porcelain goddess.

notes to his staff, feel free to assume you are there to help, helped earlier to set up, or will help after to clean up, or just there to have fun. He is a-okay with a minimal staff for the even so that all of you can celebrate. But if others are just super willing to help out he will not say no.))

How the hell do you know? Just because he doesn't have any fucked up powers doesn't mean he's less powerful as a person. His influences reaches several planets, over half a dozen if not more. He has control of so many underground organizations and entire cities or civilizations.

He's head of one of the biggest syndicates in our galaxy.

I just am sick of the fact that everyone dismisses me or any other mortal creature just because we're not undead or have super powers or some bullshit. Like just because we have the ability to die we're not worth a damn or that we're weak and helpless.

I mean, that's pretty much exactly what you were saying. Because Jethro is nothing but a man he couldn't possibly be dangerous or powerful. And clearly I'm just a whiny bitch for thinking my life was hard living under one of the most powerful mortals in my galaxy.

It pisses me off. Okay? And I want nothing more than for you and everyone else to see how wrong you are.

You know th' most common cause of death among vampires? Mortals. Sure, we do what we can to take your numbers down but ultimately? You're th' ones that kill us. There's nothin' as dangerous as someone who doesn't want to die, and nothin' as sloppy as someone who can't.

As for your daddy... I'm sure he's a big bad where you're from, but I really doubt he's the biggest wanker I've ever seen. I've met some blokes that had centuries to practice in and nothin' is quite like experience. That's all.

Dismiss what I'm tellin' you as much as you bloody well want, but at least get your bleedin' facts straight first.

[He swallows his words back waiting for the other to finish, knowing damn well Spike won't just stop his rant. So as the other turns to leave Helix needs to correct him.]

That man will never be my father. I will never refer to him as that and neither will you. Maybe you don't fear me, maybe you think I'm a joke, but you keep this shit up and I'll give you a fucking serious reason to believe everything I've said about me.

I was raised and made into a killer and I did so to survive. I want to like you, but fucking call him that again and I swear to whatever fucking power you believe in that I will see to it you always look over your shoulder for me.

I'm fucking serious, do not make an enemy out of me.

[There is almost something a little pleading in it. He'd really rather not have this whole thing go sour but he does want Spike to take him seriously.]

He recognizes himself in Helix. It'd be a lie to say anything else and the biggest difference between them is that he really did have decades to play in before he even got here. He's got his reputation. He's proven himself as one of the most dangerous and ruthless vampires in the world and so what he sees mirrored in this brash, immature brat is a side of himself better left forgotten.

Frustration. Aggression. A desire to prove himself that is greater than life itself — a desire that ultimately really did cost him his own, back in the day. ]

What he'd done in a short amount of time, what he'd survived, because he was a mortal, a TEEN mortal who'd committed more crimes and killed more people then your average adult human... that had to amount to something at least?
