Greetin's Marina.

I jus' wanted t' announce that th' Rusty Spoon will be undergoin' a name change t' Merlotte's an' will be officially open as of right now. As in all our construction is finally done.

I was looking' t'celebrate tonight an' I figure after all of th' therapy some of y'all could really use a drink er'two. This one especially goes out to everyone who helped me put everythin' together and t'make this possible. Thanks for all your hard work!

I'd really appreciate y'all comin' in and at least seein' th' menu or takin' a load off. I have a pool table an' y'kin play cards or jus' plain socialize and cure what ails ya. We made some finger foods and bits o'stuff t' sample from th' menu too.

So stop on by an' I promise ya won't have t'spill yer guts unless it's t'the porcelain goddess.

[Okay so he's not the best to be talking publicly to people but hey. It's only slightly awkward right? It's a little funny right?]

((ooc: Go ahead and treat this like any mingle. Sit at the bar, play pool, drink, nibble food to eat or dance (just this once, one of his rules is no dancing)! There is a table set up with tid-bits of burgers, or hot dogs or chili or whatever sort of southern/comfort/american diner foods you could think of. Help yourself! Threadjacking and such is encouraged. Have fun!

notes to his staff, feel free to assume you are there to help, helped earlier to set up, or will help after to clean up, or just there to have fun. He is a-okay with a minimal staff for the even so that all of you can celebrate. But if others are just super willing to help out he will not say no.))

He'd made it sound like going after Buffy was something he really wanted. Yet he's willing to set that aside just so Sam can cockblock him?

This is all pretty strange and awkward, and feels just a little wrong. Selling himself to the devil. Was Spike seriously whoring him out? Without pay for that matter. It was hard to find words to say to this.

[ There's a lot that needs to be understood about this thing they're doing here, the first of those being that Spike doesn't do anything unless it benefits him. He's not being nice with his matchmaking (even if it might look that way) but is rather using it as a way to keep Buffy off his back while, almost accidentally, shoving a perfectly nice bloke at her.

Secondly, his desire to slay Slayers hasn't vaned — and never will if he gets his way — but here he's at a severe disadvantage. Neutered, trapped and alone, it would take a miracle to even hurt Buffy let alone kill her and the fame and reputation that would come with it is absolutely useless in a fishbowl full of dead-eyed morons. He still wants to gorge himself on Slayer blood, but even more so he wants to avoid getting dusted for it.

Thirdly, he's a liar. That one's important to remember, but luckily for him it seems to be the easiest trait of his to forget. Always so painfully honest about everything else and even the Scoobies have an annoying tendency of forgetting that he's the bad guy. He's not nice or helpful or even particularly pleasant unless he wants to be — and he usually doesn't.

Fourthly... well. He doesn't mind Sam. If he wants to part the Slayer's dimpled knees, then best of luck to him.]
