[ elena is quiet, looks over at caroline with wider eyes. she gets it. her friend wants to help. now more than ever, she wants to let her friend help. knows how important that is. she has to try. ] I - I don't know. I was angry. Now I'm just... [ still angry. aggravated. in three directions: the wardens, the universe, damon. ] I just want to get through the next few days. [ she looks away again, adjusts her shoes again importantly.

she just wants damon to not be... such an idiot? no. to be here? no, she won't admit that. she doesn't need him. (wants, maybe; that's a different story.) ] I just want to know he's not going to just disappear like that. [ but there's no way of knowing that, is there? ]
