We're working on interviewing the interested and skilled and getting them into our ranks. Until they're beefed up, just call in reinforcements as needed.

[She adjusts the device to have a wider angle and sets it down before stepping into the shot. She stands there a moment before dancing. Yes, dancing for everyone. She's actually very good at it. It's a combination of ballet and more contemporary moves with high energy. One of her punishments was an open performance and this should cover it. To recruit them into his forces one way or another. Some are willing. Some get brainwashed like Mikhail. Some are just torn apart for more genetic study and fodder. Telepaths and mutants with temporal powers are killed.

The X-Men rescued me on the way to the pens, but some of my teammates had been through it. Their mutations were pushed further than they were meant to go to the point where it was destroying their bodies. [She thinks of Hiro.]

Apocalypse was actually a mutant. His agenda was survival of the fittest. I don't think he ever cared that humans feared and hated him. That was the reason a lot of mutants joined him. Payback. And the others... [She shrugs.] They were probably afraid to stand against their own kind for people who hated them. They probably thought that would be a hard life.

They weren't wrong.

We were a group of mutants who wanted coexistence between humans and mutants. We tired to stop Apocalypse and save whatever lives we could—liberating labor camps, destroying genetic processing facilities, trying to stop the cullings. That kind of thing. It was a lot of fighting. We were out manned and out gunned, and we fought just as hard and as dirty as we needed to.

My hands aren't clean. I was barely fourteen when they trained me as an assassin.

[A confession. But this time, unlike many others with people in the dome she isn't saying it to push him away or provoke a response. She's saying it to be straight with him. It's a technique that didn't work with Garcia and she's probably crazy to go back to it, but she doesn't want to lie about who she is to people who mean so much to Reid.]

We do things we think we need to do to survive. Sometimes they're right. Sometimes they're wrong. Sometimes that fall into that grey area in between. I think it's more about what we do in the moments where we aren't just trying to survive that counts. I choose to try to change the world for the better, put bad guys away, keep good people safe. Seems you choose that too or you wouldn't be leading the defense force.

	I already had a pretty loose definition coming in, but this is something else. [Of course for her part of what's so weird is how much peace, beauty, and acceptance she finds.] Reid probably doesn't like changing word definitions. Makes memorizing the dictionary kind of useless.
