♒ FAQ Why is there a school in a prison RP? Euphemia li Britannia (Euphie) founded the school because she wanted everyone to have the opportunity to attend even if they were in Marina. Since Euphie's departure from the dome, the school is currently being run by Lyle Dylandy.
What are the classes like and where and when are they? Class content and timing is determined by the teachers. Lyle tries to solicit new teachers periodically especially to fill gaps in the curriculum. Most classes will be held in the education facility or the computer lab, both of which are in sector 2. Reference the course catalog for a listing of current classes.
Who can attend? Everyone!
How do drop/adds work? All attendance is on a voluntary basis. Given the nature of new arrivals and those lost in the stabilizer, people may add and drop classes at any time. Teachers are asked to keep information organized so that students can catch up without too much trouble. There is no minimum or maximum number of classes a person may or may not take.
Can my character start a class? Absolutely! There is only the mildest of IC screening that takes place for this.
Can my character be involved without being a teacher or student? Sure! If you have an idea bring it up in game. It might be great to have a guidance counselor or a principal or a coach or an organizational assistant, etc.
How do I know who is in the classes? You don't really. Much of the school runs on assumptions, but the more you post/thread about it in game the more likely you'll know some of the people who claim to be involved.
Do I have to post each time there is a class? Do I need to know the subject well? The level of attention or detail you want to put into your character's teaching or schooling is entirely up to you. It could all be handwaved that they spend some time there or you can play through it as much as you want. For instance, even if you want to assume a class is held every other day, that does not mean there will be a post that often. Teachers are welcome and encouraged to occasionally hold class. Students can always post about class, homework, between classes, etc. Classes are occurring whether they are specifically played out or not. Of course if something is going on like a game-wide event that is wreaking havoc a teacher is also welcome to post about canceling class that day or it can be assumed. Use it for CR-generating purposes as well as knowing what keeps your character busy day in and day out.
Is there a timeline of major school events? Of course! Follow the link to the timeline.
