I was weird, my first favourites in EVA were Ritsuko and Naoko. I just found their stories so fascinating, and I hated Gendo SO MUCH for fucking with both of them. I still adore them both, but Rei and Kaworu have edged them out a little, I think.

Heeeeee, my first anime crush was Near from Death Note. I think he gave me my taste for white/fair-haired characters, and also for characters that either are or look much too young for me to be crushing on. I AM NOT ASHAMED. /is ashamed

I'd just like to reiterate how naked he was in the Rebuild. I mean. If that shadow were any lower, we'd be talking about a whole different kind of show.

Ritsuko and Naoko were epic but at the same so crazy for falling for the same guy (Gendo wasn't even attractive ewww!). It was like whoa. My favorite couple is Misato/Kaji, in both anime and manga are so hilarious and have an interesting love background.

I like how the manga explained it a bit more - I mean, he came up to Ritsuko AT THE FUCKING FUNERAL and basically snared her when she was at her most vulnerable, which made more sense. In the anime, she just says something in one of the last episodes and you go "WHAT THE - THEY WERE SLEEPING TOGETHER THE WHOLE TIME?! Didn't he also bone her MOM?!"

Misato and Kaji are so sweet. I also love his backstory in the manga and the explanation for why he felt he didn't deserve to be with her. Both Kajis are interesting - the anime one is more mysterious, but the manga one is so utterly tragic. I might have been rooting for those crazy kids when they appeared to be back together. Maybe just a little.
