Definición de diccionario: El chauvinismo es un razonamiento falso o paralógico. Es uno de los argumentos falsos llamados ad hominem que sirven para persuadir con sentimientos en vez de con razones a quienes se convencen más con aquéllos que con éstas, y como tal se utilizó frecuentemente por parte de los políticos para persuadir a las masas.

Definición coloquial: Decir cosas como 'sólo las mujeres usan falda' para decir que tú no usarías falda es un razonamiento fallido que básicamente haría que buena parte de las mujeres te patearan el trasero porque se podría decir que estás indicando que eres mejor que ellas.
