Hey, guys! I'm not really back yet unfortunately because I'm still not allowed to be up for very long at a time BUT. I thought I'd just drop in to give my (mod-approved) take on Draco's Holiday Experience, just in case any of the other Slytherins/purebloods who might see him over the vacation feel like gossiping. This way I'm contributing without being here? Or something? IDK IDK.
So basically, Draccy-poo's getting summoned to a Death Eater meeting (do they call them meetings? That sounds so prosaic) almost as soon as he gets home for the holidays. He's expecting this, more or less, so he's probably been betraying some symptoms of intense anxiety in the runup to the hols, blah blah blah. Basically he's going to be asked to account for what he's been up to at Hogwarts and his progress on The Cabinet Thing and The Murder Thing.
Since he kind of hasn't made much progress on the former or ANY on the latter (aside from fucking up Katie Bell's life, OOPS, but the Dark Lord takes a page from Brandi's book: Almost Doesn't Count [that song was Brandi, right? Or was it TLC? Or was it Destiny's Child? AM I RACIST OH MY GOD]) this "meeting" is not going to go well for him. Long story short: he's gettin' his ass crucio'd. Among other, suitably unhappy and vague, stuff. Voldemort has the best motivational tools.
The reason I am informing you all of this! Is that while Mr. Malfoy is still going to be doing his Social Duty in the aftermath, going to all the pureblood parties and society gigs and whatever, he's going to be noticeably different from his usual self while doing it. Physically, he'll still be perfectly dressed and coiffed and all that, but he'll be visibly pale with dark circles under the eyes and, for a few days at least, moving very stiffly. Emotionally, he'll be pretty stand-offish, jumpy, and basically just not his usual charming ("charming?") self. And when he inevitably sees fellow Death Eaters out and about, he'll be trying to avoid them like the plague while simultaneously appearing not to avoid them at all.
It'll be a noticeable enough difference from his usual behavior that even fellow self-absorbed teenagers may notice. So if your character is a pureblood/otherwise who would see him over the hols at some sort of social function or whatever (assume the Malfoys go to all of them,) feel free to use this as something to gossip about or comment on or whatever. Or not, that's ok too! I just figured I'd give people the option/try to keep Draco's plot moving in my absence. V.V
Aaand now I have to go lie down again before my blood pressure gets too high. LYING DOWN ALL THE TIME IS NOT AS FUN AS IT SOUNDS, YOU GUYS. Woe.
