Why would she tell him anything? he wondered. He didn't know her and she surely didn't know him and whatever it was that happened, she was clearly alive now. But there didn't mean he wasn't curious. He had thought for sure that she would be dead, and he would never see the pretty blonde haired girl walk into their class again. It seemed like the world would be missing something if that had happened. Like it was just a little dimmer without her presence.. and he didn't even KNOW her! That was the crazy part. That was the part that he just couldn't get to sink into his head. So when he finally saw her again, there were too many emotions running through to really explain.
Her question of his name was an understandable one. Who was he to ask anyway? But he introduced himself. "I'm sorry. I was too shocked to realize how rude I was. I'm Wyatt, Wyatt Grayson. I sit a few rows behind you and--I'm sorry. I shouldn't ask. It's obviously none of my business." And he knew it wasn't. He ran his hand over the back of his neck and had a strong desire to go into his wolf form and just take off at a run into the woods. He felt foolish for prying so openly and trudging up obviously painful memories. He was about to walk away when she started to speak.
Not wanting to press his luck, Wyatt stayed quiet and stared down at his shoes as he listened to her story. He could feel as if he had been the one walking alone, that he had been the one who was attacked. He could feel the pain of the blows and the fear and uncertainty of anything. And when she spoke of tasting blood, he wanted to cringe. He sympathized with her. He too had tasted blood before, and it woke up that craving for it. But he wasn't monster enough to act on that craving.
His eyes widened as he looked up to catch her eyes now. "Vampires are horrible company to keep, Beth." He spoke in a strong but quiet voice. He knew what the blood lust was like for him and it was only a million times worse for them. He shook his head a few times. "Well I can say I'm happy that he saved your life but.. vampire's can run faster than you or I breathe. He should have taken you to a hospital. They could have given you untainted blood to keep you alive. Vampire blood--it's a poison." And that much was true. It would kill a person without batting an eyelash. "But I do mean it when I say I'm happy that you're alive. I can't imagine if you were just.. gone."
He looked back down at the floor, "That sounds rather stalkerish, doesn't it? You hardly know me and here I'm talking about missing you if you were gone. I'm sorry. I was just so.. surprised. Pleasantly, obviously." Shaking his head, he told himself to just stop babbling. "What about the man who did that to you, the mugger, what happened to him?" Wyatt was already taking note. He had a great sense of smell. He could hunt down this man.
