What: ...umm...Partying?
When: Evening, Monday, July 26, 2010
Where: Kaydence's Dorm
Rating: Jack showed up... so R
Status: Complete

Kaydence had spent the last few days going around inviting everyone she had met to a party at her dorm on Monday night. She told everyone she invited she wanted to make it an open invite, so if they had any friends who wanted to come the more the merrier. She even put up a few posters in places around the campus so anyone who wished to come would know she wanted them there. She was getting very excited by the morning of the party. She knew some of her friends would at least drop by, and she liked the idea of meeting new people.

The day before the party she went to town to get some of the provisions she thought she would need. She loaded up on chips, dip, and any other kind of snack food that jumped out at her at the grocery store. She also picked up a bunch of two liter sodas, plastic cups and plates. After the food, she went to the liquor store and got a few cases of a verity of beers, hard ciders, mixers, tequila, vodka, whiskey, and ice. She flirted with one of the guys in the next building over so he would help her carry all of the supplies back up to her apartment, then invited him to the party as a reward.

The morning of the party Kay through her usual routine. She went to swim practice in the morning, and invited anyone on the swim team that she had forgotten before. She then headed back to her apartment and ordered a bunch of pizzas to be delivered to her dorm later that night so people would have real good if they wanted it. She prepaid of the pizzas so she wouldn't have to think about it with so many other things going on. With that planning over with she tore apart her closet trying to and find the perfect party outfit. She decided on jeans and a bright blue halter top, spending some time putting all her clothes back in the closet.

When it got closer to the time for people to start coming she started to set out the snacks and fill the coolers with the drinks that needed to be chilled. When everything else was ready she put on some good party music and opened her so people could just come right in. With everything in place she sat down on the couch and just relaxed as she waited for people to arrive.

She kept a cheerful smile on her face and laughed when he friend couldn't think of the last time she had had anything alcoholic at all. When she finally did come up with a number it had been what Kaydence thought was a very long time ago. "So how many years ago was that... three, four?" She asked her friend. She started to try and think of ways to get her to drink some water or soda, water would be better.

She glanced over to where the dryad was looking and saw Jack still sitting on the couch alone, she hopped someone would take him home tonight because she figured she would be too busy with Jia Li to have fun with him. "I am sorry about Jack... I had no idea." She told her friend looking a bit worried.

"Yes and how many of those were White Russians?" She asked with a grin as she shook her head slighting taking another drink of her beer. "I can only drink like three beers before I am all kinds of drunk. And I drink more then you." She said watching the bottle in her friends hand. "We should switch to water next.. makes less of a headache in the morning."

She hugged her friend back and smiled brightly at her. "That is fine.. you can be drunk.. I am watching your back, so no one takes advantage of you." She said with a firm nod as she tried to lead Jia Li over to the table with water bottles on it.

Jia Li laughed. “Noooo. I loooook young, but that was a whole six yeeeeaaaaars ago.” The dryad couldn’t help but laugh some more about that. “This will only be illegal for one more year.” She thought she was whispering, but the statement came out as more of a loud hiss. She suddenly swayed to the side a little sharper than she’d intended, but she righted herself before she fell.

The dryad watched Kay’s gaze move to Jack. “Don’t be sorry. He’s a jeeeeerk, but it’s good if he’s at least nice to someone.” Though it would have been nice if he’d been kind to Jia Li instead of humiliating her. She took another swig of her beer. “‘Sides, it’s not your fault.”

The dryad leaned against her friend and laughed. “Just one, but it’s all gone!” The rest had been rum-and-coke and beer. It really crept up on her quickly, though. “But I heal fast, so… beer just goes right through me!” At least, that was her theory. At the moment, it seemed like it was sort of sticking around.

“Whatever sounds magnificent. It’s my favorite. You’re a good friend! Thoughtful!” Jia Li confided in her friend as if it was a big secret. “But those white Russians are sure fighting for the top splot!” The dryad burst into laughter at her mix-up. “I mean spot.” She allowed Kay to lead her to the table, and she picked up a bottled water and opened it to take a drink. “Mm… That’s good waters.”

Suddenly, she really needed to use the bathroom. “Uh oh. I’ll be right back.” Beer definitely seemed to have gone straight through her though the effects of the alcohol remained. She staggered past the partiers and through the kitchen to get to the bathroom which was mercifully empty. After spending what seemed like an eternity but was really only five minutes in there, she washed her hands and exited. Just as she left the kitchen, she saw Jack sitting next to that insanely beautiful, exotic woman who had introduced her to White Russians drinks. The woman’s tanned finger moved over his eyebrow, and she felt a pang of what she know recognized as jealousy, but she didn’t know why.

Jia Li started moving toward the table where the drinks were, but she remembered that Kay had said she should drink water instead. Even though she thought alcohol would be more pleasant, she drank the water, avoiding the alcohol.

“I think I’m going to go sit over there.” Jia Li pointed to a chair along the opposite wall from where the couch was. She didn’t want to see Jack. “You should go dance and party and enjoy yourself.” Her negative feelings had slightly sobered her and had made her realize that Kay shouldn’t have to babysit her. It was her party, and she should have fun. Jia Li smiled at her friend reassuringly.

"Well that makes it worse!" Kaydence told her friend with a laugh. "Drinking age always seemed so silly to me." She said waving the comment away with a laugh, and laughing with her friend as she kept drinking her own beer.

"Well now that I know I am going to take note and not invite him when I invite you!" She said nodding at her very good plan. "He is nicer when you get to know him... kind of... But you need to have.. armor to even get to know him." She siad looking back at him again then back to her friend.

"Yeah, I had a bartender friend tell me if you drink water while you are drinking good drinks that you will cut down on the de.. de... dehyderereration... So you don't get as big of a hang over." She said smiling widely as she took a water for her self and finished off the second bottle before she opened the aqua.

She waited for Jia Li to come back, flirting with some meat head football jerk that had found his way to the party. She was not in the least bit interested in what he had to say and was laughing right in his face with how drunk she was, but he seemed to think she just thought he was funny so kept talking to her.

"Are you sure, I can stay with you. I don't mind." She told her friend turning her back completely on the meat head so she could focus and stop laughing. "I am having fun." She told her friend honestly. "I'll check on you every so often?" She offered a compromiser.

Jia Li was inebriated, and logic really wasn’t her strong suit at this point. “Why is that worse?” She leaned closer to Kay. “Are you calling me old?” Her voice was accusatory, but her eyes sparkled with mirth. She wouldn’t be able to get angry tonight. Hell, she could hardly register that she’d been angry tonight at all.

“I think…” Could she think? Her head was pretty fuzzy. What had she been trying to say? “Um… Oh yeah. I think this whole country…” Sucks? No… That wasn’t it. “…is weird.” That sounded better, but she could remember why she’d said it. It had been in response to something Kay had said about ages and drinking. Jia Li couldn’t remember how the two connected.

“Aw… No. I don’t think that’s… importhant.” Jia Li’s words were pretty slurred. “He’s… angry… making… but he has something hiding in his… head… No! His heart…” The dryad trailed off, not explaining what she meant if there was any real meaning to it at all. “I don’t have…” What had Kay called it? “…armor… I’m all exposed-ed and squishy, but he’s your buddy. You don’t have to choose.” What was the choice between anyway? Oh yeaaaah. Jack and Jia Li. She leaned heavily against the siren. “You’re not all squishy.” She announced.

“Ooooh. That’s riiight. Dehydrilation… Hydratration…” Her brows knit together. That wasn’t right, but nothing sounded right. Jia Li burst into laughter. There was no hope for her to get it right. Maybe there wasn’t a right way to say it? Maybe the worst wasn’t real?

“I had a hang-over… once… It suuuucked.”

Then Jia Li went to the bathroom and returned. Her green eyes which were slightly glazed over glanced at the guy with whom Kay had been speaking but had promptly ignored. A smile lit the dryad’s features. “Yesth… I should sit… for a little bit. You go dancing.” She nodded at the comprise the siren suggested before walking away to go sit in an empty chair. She needed to clear her head a little, and dancing had made her stomach a little unhappy.

She flopped into the chair across the room, grateful that she’d chosen jeans over a skirt. Holding her legs tightly together the whole time would have taken some effort. Jia Li watched as everyone danced and drank and had a good time, and she felt fine for a while. Her head began to clear a tiny bit.

Someone approached her just as she watched Jack leave the party, followed by that exotic looking woman. Her mood soured, but the person who had approached her was actually kind of cute. “Hey, you okay?”

He must have seen the look her face, but she flashed him what she hoped was a dazzling smile. “I’m wonderful now.” The smile that lit his face made him look even better, and he didn’t look like a dumb jock. He was a vampire, though, by his teeth.

“Wanna dance?” He asked, and she nodded, taking the hand he’d offered before he led her onto the floor.

"NO!" Kaydence said with a silly laugh as she talked with her friend. "I am saying you are a light weight!" She explained as if it should have been obvious to the other girl what she was trying to say. She was obviously the more experienced of the two of them in a lot of things.

"You know I haven't seen the whole country.. I came on a direct flight. I mean I think we are part of the states.. we speak English and all, and we pay taxes. But they pretty much leave us alone." She said nodding to herself.

She giggled at her friend and but bit her lip at the same time. Kaydence liked to pretend she was all squishy and wore her heart on her sleeve like other girls, but the truth was she had that thing locked up so tight she didn't never know where she had put the key. "I'm squishy too!" She pouted at her friend.

"Whaatever! Water good." She said with a firm nod and started to laugh as she drank some more herself. "Cept if they put stuff in it... that's why I got a lot of single serve drinks." She explained before drinking again.

She let her friend go sit down and she went back out to dance for a little while. She would keep an eye on Jia Li, looking over every so often to make sure she was okay. Whens he came back out to dance again herself Kay moved towards her with whatever guy she happen to be dancing with, she wasn't really paying much attention to that.
