I am very glad there isn't a miniature version of me running around. I don't remember much about being that age, except for being hungry. It wasn't something I want to relive. If it does happen, I better be seeing a little Peeta and Johanna too. They are not getting the last laugh there.

Hi. Just wondered if you would like to go into town for some supplies, or something, or go out really, but that doesn't sound so smooth.

Yeah, sounds good. I have to pick up some new clothes anyway. What do you need?

Clothes shopping?

I was looking for more supplies. I am making a new bow by hand. The carving is taking a long time, but it will look good.

What have you been doing lately?

Ugh, don't put it that way. I'm just picking up clothes. It's like picking up supplies. Go in, go out, make it all painless.

Cool. I've never made my own bow before. Can I see yours?

I've been hunting and training a lot. Need to find a job too, but it's hard to get a good one when you look like you're 16 max, you know?

You had me worried that you were going all bows and high heels on me.

Come on. We will get what I need and then I will show you how to start one for yourself. I'll show you mine if you show -

I have too. Maybe we should come up with something together. I think you look a little older actually.

I'd shoot myself first.

Hmm. Okay. That would be useful, sure.

I just need to look old enough that people don't think I should be going to school instead of working.

Maybe on a special occasion?

I don't think you look that young, or maybe on the borderline or something.

What else have you been doing?

If Artemis herself told me to wear a dress for some sort of ceremony or another, maybe I'd consider it.

You tell that to the people who won't give me a job!

You know, the usual: running, hunting, training. Keeping busy. What've you been doing? Did you get any word from your friend? The one that went back?

You would look nice, but I like women who are not afraid of getting their hands dirty, and would rather walk around the woods with me.

Maybe we should both be hunting guides?

I have done a lot of the same. She didn't come back, but I am adjusting. Did any of your friends show up?

That sounds like a personal ad. "Likes long walks in the woods and girls that aren't afraid of getting their hands dirty." Does that mean you like

Thinking about it, but I don't think I'd have the pashence to prove to my clients that a girl can be a good hunting guide every time I take someone out.

Yeah, the loud-mouthed obnoxious one is Clarisse, and the pretty blonde with the scar is Selina.

Let's not forget a girl who can skin her own game. Now that is a woman.

So let's do it together. Five minutes out there with you and they will be fine.

I don't think I have met them. I still have Peeta and Johanna here.

Now that's just ageist. I can skin my own game, but I'm a sworn eternal maiden.

Not if they have my arrow embedded in their ass.

Is Peeta the one that bakes a lot? He's good to have around.

An eternal maiden? You mean - OH. Why would you want to be an eternal maiden.

Call it a learning experience?

That would be Peeta. Everyone's favorite hero. He really is a bit too nice.

Sometimes I It's the oath I took to become a Hunter of Artemis.

Hmm, true. If they don't learn from that, then there's no hope for them.

I'm sensing some bitterness.

She isn't exactly here. So why do you have to do that to be her hunter.

They might not be repeat clients, but I would find it very entertaining.

Yes and no. You know how those people are who are so nice they are annoying. There are no faults there. You could say we were rivals at one time.

Because it's her hunters, so it's her rules.

I wouldn't do it for your entertainment, pretty boy goatee face.

Oh yeah, perfect people are annoying. What were you rivals for? I can't see you going for the Cake Baking Championship.

Why is that one of her rules? There weren't many people in my world. Certain things like that were encouraged.

My amusement is a bonus. Not many people get me to laugh.

Very. No, I don't bake. I can make a mean rabbit stew in the woods, but no cakes, and I can't decorate with those little flowers. It was about a girl. And no, it isn't still going on.

What thi OH She's the Virgin Goddess, so I guess she wants her handmadens to be virgins too. This is so embarrassing So...did you help repopulate the world?

You know, someone very wise once said, "A man who can laugh at himself will never cese to be amused." You should try it.

Katniss?

I see. Can you quit? What happens if you - well, have a boyfriend? We aren't so bad.

No. I actually didn't have a hand in that. I didn't need a child growing up in that world with the capitol and the war. It was still going on when I came here. Maybe someday, but not yet.

I think I would be funny as Hell.

She was my best friend and I had this crush on her, and then she was forced into the games with Peeta. If it wasn't for the games, I think she and I would have gotten together eventually, but we didn't, and Peeta is Peeta. He's the hero. But I'm okay with that now.

I'm not sure. Best case scenario, we lose our immortality and get kicked out of the Hunters. Worst case, Artemis gets really mad and change us into a stag for her wolves to hunt down and tear apart. It's hard to tell, really.

Yeah, that kinda makes sense. Of course, I can't even imagine having a kid at all, so it's not like I'm an authority or anything.

Really? Let me tell you something about heroes. It's really not cracked up like it's supposed to be.

So - that's it? You can't date or anything? I'm just saying because you might change your mind on that.

Me neither. I never really considered it. It was a later kind of thing.

Maybe not. He went crazy for awhile, and he actually tried to kill her. There were people messing with his head. They call it hijacking, or the older term is brainwashing.

There might be one of those, especially one who can clean his own game. Because I am. It's just a huge deal for someone so young.

The time thing here is weird. He is from a time before that happened. I remember it well, but he hasn't been there yet. I'm not telling him either.

Yeah, hopefully that game won't be me.

I'm almost 16 and that's not including the years I spent as a tree . It's not that young.

Probably a good thing. It must be weird to know all this stuff they don't.

Nope. That is a different type of game entirely. You will be safe except maybe from Artemis.

You don't know what will happen or who you will meet.

I don't know if it's better or worse, or if they would even believe it.

Considering that I'd have a venjful goddess on my hands if I do break my oath? I'd say it's pretty high up there on the list of Bad Things That Could Happen. Look, it made sense at the time but

Seems to me like nothing good is going to come out of them knowing.

Maybe. For however long it lasts. And if it doesn't, then I'm left with a reputation for going back on my word, and no self-respect. Tell me, what's worth that?

I agree.

You are a girl who thought she was sure of something, but changed her mind. There is a big difference there. Your self-respect should be fine. What happens if we go back and it's like we never left? We might not even remember this place.
