It's been a long time since I put together a class curriculum. The last time I was on a college campus didn't go very well, but so far so good here.

Yes, I will be teaching Chemistry and Organic Chemistry now.

Oh sounds interesting if you like that sort of thing. I only took chemistry in high school because I had to. I'm a musical theater major at the university.

Yes it's interesting if you like that sort of thing. It sounds like you're more right brained.

I see you like to analyze things? So tell me what are the qualities of both sides of the brain?

Roger W. Sperry theorized that the two different sides of the brain were responsible for certain qualities. I say theorized because while he proved his thesis in some ways, it's not conclusive entirely since there are mitigating factors. It was a good start at least. He found while researching epilepsy that cutting the corpus collosum made certain qualities appear stronger when one side of the brain was dominant over the other. Left brain dominance was logical, analytical, and applied critical thinking. Right brain dominance leads to creativity, intuition, and emotion.

Of course these are generalizations, brain chemistry is more complicated than simple traits delegated to only one section. It's important that the brain functions as one solid machine. That sort of study is best when one side of the brain shuts down or is injured.

The true question is if there's a good source of edible food on campus.

I'm not a good judge of those things, I'm used to eating bad food.

Well, unless Tony decides to take up cooking, you don't need to eat bad food anymore. It sounds like it's time to retrain your tastebuds.

Then you're not a completely lost cause.

I know a place that has good burgers and fries. How does your schedule look?

It's not developing a curriculum that's trying. It's the students that don't want to be there, or the ones that feel their entitled to a passing grade without having to put the effort into the class or their work.

They're going to be in for a rude awakening. I wouldn't call myself a tough teacher, but I don't reward laziness.

You would think the first category would be easily rooted out, but they are oddly persistent. I suppose that is impressive, or it would be if they weren't so obnoxious.

I remember nearly falling asleep in my history class every day. It all depends on what people are passionate about.

Falling asleep in any of my lessons at the Temple would have earned me swift punishment.

I wish you much luck in getting things in order for your classes. Depending on how the summer passes for me, I may look to enroll in some classes at the university come the autumn semester. Your Organic Chemistry course is of quite some interest to me. And really, one can only read so much about subjects, sometimes it is better to experience experts teaching them.

I'd be glad to have you. I like the lab work the most. Lecturing can give a lot of information, but what really sticks with people is seeing it in action.

Precisely. Seeing it practiced, and then doing it yourself reinforces the notions in one's mind. I also prefer lab work for that very reason. Getting my hands into the work is the best way to learn.

Exactly. Not that I don't enjoy the research and theoretical parts, but it's more effective that way.

If one wishes to get specific, I enjoy the entire process, the learning and the hands-on experience. But there is nothing quite like getting into the experiments and doing the work.
