Okay, this is lethal.

I mean, the glitter thing will never get old. Clearly it's hilarious. But I definitely need lessons on not having magic. If they'd have done this in muggle studies I'd probably have payed more attention. You know... rather than trying to crack on to Evans the whole time.

Maybe, anyway.

Muggle?

Oh. Sorry. Non-magical person.

Uh, alright. Well, then, muggle here. At your service. Unless you count the new ability to make everything within reach colorful and sparkly.

Awesome. How do you use a can opener?

I'm James, by the way.

Well, you take the two handles, open them up. Make sure the point half is resting on the side of the can. Clamp it down by pushing the two handles together again. Then, hold the can with one hand and turn the wheel with the right. It will rotate the can and it will cut the top off.

Although, if you've never used one before, you might want to stay away from sharp objects until this all blows over.

Oh! Sorry, I'm Gwen. It's nice to meet you.

That is... needlessly complicated.

Maybe I'll just have biscuits.

Nice to meet you too. Are you new?

It gets the job done. Better than those that just puncture a hole in the top of the can.

I just got here a little bit over a week ago. Still adjusting. How long have you been here?

Bloody ages. I think it's been... seven months?

Merlin, that actually is ages. I never really thought about it before.

Wow, seven months. People seem to keep saying that they don't think about it. I hope that means there will be a day when I stop keeping track too.

It's like anything. You get used to it. I still miss home, but... you have to just get on, don't you? Stiff upper lip and all that crap.

I suppose so. There are a lot of nice people here, at least.

Well, let me know if there are any other "muggle" items you need to have explained. I'd rather you ask than to hurt yourself.

Yeah, the people here are pretty cool. Some good choices by the unnamed kidnapping force, I think.

Hmmm... I will have a good thing. My fiance's parents were muggles, so she's been trying to educate me. She's failing, but whatever. Anyway, I'd like to shock her with a perfectly opened can, or something.

How do you not know how to read transport maps?

What else don't you know?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]_cervus_
2012-12-02 10:47 pm UTC (link)
Well, I never used it back home. I apparated or used the floo network. Or the train to school, I guess, but there's no maps involved in that.

Dunno. Stuff. Erm.... pogo sticks? I don't get what they are. Also those phones were you put the money in to talk to someone. And stamps. When you have to put different kinds of stamps on different sized bits of post, that's confusing.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]darkforcerising
2012-12-02 10:53 pm UTC (link)
I'm going to break this down into concise questions.

Apparated?
Floo netowrk?
You used a train but still don't know transportation maps?

Pogo sticks?
I'm assuming those are the same as intergalactic comm stations?
I'm also assuming the stamps you're referring to coorelate with data transfers?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]_cervus_
2012-12-02 10:57 pm UTC (link)
Disappearing in one place and appearing in another. It's a magic thing.

Back home, witches and wizards travel by fireplace. As long as they're all connected in the floo network, you can step into one and step out in another.

I only used one train, and it only went to one place. So it didn't really need a map. I just got on it. It wasn't like there was a choice of trains to get on and I had to get off at a certain point, ot anything.

I dunno. I think they're sticks that jump. Or you jump on. Or something.

Again, I don't know. Whats an inergalactic comm station?

Data transfers meaning...? I'm just on about sending letters to people.

So, you haven't tried using the trolleys here?

Have you tried searching the information database these communication devices can access for a description of these pogo sticks?

Communication stations that are linked throughout the galaxy. When you pay to use them you are seeking access to the service the company that owns the station is providing.

Data transfer - the process of moving data in any form from one point to the next.

Nope.

Nope. I think I might just get someone to show me. It will also contribute to comedy.

Then yes, one of them.

Sure? Thats probably it, then.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]darkforcerising
2012-12-02 11:15 pm UTC (link)
Are you asking me to show you?

They are easy to use. You deposit the correct amount of credits money, then dial the number code of the party you're trying to reach. But why would you use one of those when you have these personal communication devices?

Rates are easy to find using the same information database I mentioned. Why do you want to send a letter?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]_cervus_
2012-12-02 11:17 pm UTC (link)
Do you know how to use one? I kind of assumed you wouldn't.

How do I know how much money, though?

What about when you want things to go faster than before? Or like, not to be carried upside down, or whatever?

And I don't want to do either of those things. They were just examples of things I don't know.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]darkforcerising
2012-12-02 11:23 pm UTC (link)
Oh, you mean the pogo sticks, I thought you were referring to the information database. No, I don't know how to use one. Good luck finding someone who does.

So why are you asking about them if you don't want to use either service?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]_cervus_
2012-12-03 07:52 pm UTC (link)
You can show me the information database instead, if you want?

You asked what I didn't know. And I panicked and just pulled something out of the air.

Still, I might want to use them, one day. You never know, do you?
