Who: Myka and a de-aged Helena
What: Myka went to sleep with her 146 year old girlfriend, and wakes up with a 24 year old one instead.
When: Saturday morning
Where: Helena's room
Warnings: Uh possible cursing on Myka's part, possible feels on her part as well, and a somewhat freaked out Helena. Otherwise should be low, but will edit if needed!

It had been a long few days at the Warehouse. The last Artifact had given them a bit of a fit to track, but they'd finally found and apprehended it. Helena had come home, greeted her brother in passing as she headed upstairs. She made a brief stop at Christina's room. The seven year old was asleep, but Helena couldn't refrain from going over to her and giving her a soft kiss to the forehead. She then gently tucked Christina into bed a bit with a warm and adoring smile on her lips. She then turned and quietly left Christina's room, closing the door behind her and made her way to her own bedroom. Helena readied herself for bed, ready to simply fall into it. She changed into her nightgown, then put her waist length hair into a braid, tying it with a blue ribbon (one that matched her nightgown), to keep it from getting tangled while she slept. She blew the candles out, then slid into bed. It didn't take her long to fall asleep, and she certainly was looking forward to getting a good night's sleep.

Which she did. Helena slept quite soundly, so much so that whatever differences in the bed she was sleeping in when morning came didn't disrupt her sleep. It was when she started to wake that she realized something wasn't quite right. The mattress she was on was certainly not hers. It felt different. Though it was slightly odd because it seemed to conform to her body perfectly as she lay on her side. Slowly opening her eyes, Helena's sleep-hazed gaze fell on a fireplace that wasn't hers. Her eyes snapped wide open, but she didn't yet sit up or make any move in the bed.

"What..." she started to say, but stopped herself. Had she been whammied by an Artifact in her sleep? If she had, she was decidedly not going to stand for it continuing for much longer. Still unmoving, her gaze moved around what she could see of the room. It looked regal, stately, almost as if this was a castle. Though it didn't precisely look like a castle she'd been in before, which didn't narrow things down much considering England was littered with castles, not mention the rest of Europe!

She had yet to realize that she wasn't alone in the room...

Myka was still pleasantly stuck in that place between asleep and awake, when thoughts were fuzzy and touched by the last tendrils of dream. Where you knew it was cold outside the blankets and the bed was at its maximum level of comfort. Where you simply didn't want to wake up yet, but rather drift off back to sleep.

Myka wanted to do the drifting, not the waking.

When Helena spoke, it cut through Myka's morning haziness a bit, but she merely rolled over so she was facing Helena's back and draped a loving arm around what she'd assumed was her girlfriend's waist. It had been her girlfriend's waist the night before, at least.

She tried to say, "Sleep longer." But it did come out more of a mumble than anything coherent.

Helena felt the bed shift briefly and she was about to roll over to see what the cause of it was when an arm draped around her waist. She heard a mumble of something indecipherable to her, but she wasn't precisely paying close attention to the mumble so much as an arm of someone she didn't know being around her.

If she had been in her own home, she would've attacked the owner of that arm. The only person that was allowed to spend the night in Helena's bed was Christina. But as it was, Helena simply extracted herself from the arm and leapt out of bed, whirling around to see another woman in the bed. Helena blinked in slight confusion.

"Who are you?" So that was better than simply out-right accusing the woman of kidnapping her by use of an Artifact. At least for the moment. That would come soon enough. Though she felt a bit silly standing there in her nightgown. It would not be conducive to fighting if the need for it arose.

Myka didn’t move until Helena jumped out of her arm and bed. This snapped Myka more awake, though she was still blinking back groggy sleep as she rose on her elbow to look at Helena. She took that hand that had just moments before been slipped around what she’d thought was her girlfriend’s waist and scrubbed at her eyes. She paid no mind to the blanket falling down to reveal just what little clothing Myka had slept in the night before – for the curious, it was nothing.

But Myka didn’t understand yet what was going on to have any shame.

“Helena,” she said, finding her voice and managing a playful smile. “What is this, some kind of game? Because, you know we could just sleep longer, it’s Saturday morning.”

When the blanket slipped down, Helena, of course, let her gaze lower to Myka's exposed body, brows arching upwards in intrigue. Well, that was certainly a lovely sight to behold first thing in the morning. Actually it was more than lovely. It did make her want to see what the rest of the woman's body looked like. She was rather beautiful, and it seemed a shame to leave a naked, or what she assumed to be naked, woman alone in bed.

Lifting her gaze back to the woman's eyes, she blinked a bit, the distraction of the naked woman fading a bit and the direness of her current situation rising again. She gave her head a brief shake. This woman knew her name, which meant clearly this was some Artifact-induced hallucination. Yet Helena was puzzled as to how she was able to recognize this being a hallucination. If this was an Artifact's doing, wouldn't she be unaware this was a hallucination? Well, she supposed it would depend upon what Artifact had been used.

"It is no game when an Artifact was clearly used to bring me here or put me into this state of mind." She started glancing around the room, then she noticed a shadowbox hanging on the wall that contained something very familiar to her. Helena frowned deeply as she saw the blanket there, then she abruptly turned back to Myka. The action caused her thick braided hair to fall over her shoulder. "Why is my daughter's blanket here? Where is she?"

Well that was quite the leer from Helena. The first of a long series of actions and facts that started piling up in Myka’s head to tell her something was not right.

“Your daughter?” she’d yet to put the pieces together completely. “You know she’s not here, you’ve been here-”

It took her to the end of that sentence to catch on fully. And when she did her eyes went wide and she said, “Oh.” And then she looked down and her surprise took on a kind of panic. Never before had she felt exposed in front of Helena – because they were together, in love, they were naked around each other often. But this was suddenly, somehow different. “Oh!” Myka snatched at the blankets and yanked them up to her chin before sitting up. She clutched the blankets to her body tightly.

“Do you remember anything about this place?”

Hearing that Christina wasn't here only upset Helena that much more. She didn't like being separated from her daughter, especially when an Artifact was involved. And right now, she was starting to think this woman had the Artifact. Though at seeing the way the woman covered herself up as realization seemed to dawn on her, Helena was only further perplexed by this entire situation.

And she didn't like being perplexed. It vexed her.

"Why should I remember anything about a place I have not been to before?" Helena returned, crossing her arms. "This is clearly some hallucination caused by an Artifact. Though this seems to be more real than a hallucination. Seeing as things are, perhaps the Artifact is a book and I have been trapped in it?" It seemed the next logical explanation for what was happening. And given what she'd said, apparently she had experience with hallucinations before. Clearly there was a story there, and it was Artifact related.

Myka blinked a few times, and then ran a hand through her hair. Okay, what was called for was some damage control.

“Okay,” she held up a palm towards Helena. “First, this is not an Artifact- yes, I know what they are. I’m a Warehouse agent, too. Or I was, and then I ended up here. This place is another dimension. And something here pulls us to this place.”

Myka scooted to her side of the bed, making sure to keep the blanket close to her body.

“You were here before, before me. Then I showed up and then we…” okay, did their relationship really need a detailed explanation given Myka had been naked in bed with her?

And then it came to the issue of Christina. Myka knew the worst thing she could do would be to reveal Christina’s fate to Helena.

“And your daughter is okay. She’s back home. When people leave here they’re returned back to the exact time they’re taken from. You’ll see her when you go home.” It hurt a little to say those things, knowing Helena would go home to a future filled with sadness. But telling her the exact truth would be worse.

The first thing that caught Helena's attention was that this woman was a Warehouse agent. The second was that this wasn't caused by an Artifact. If she'd been anyone else than H.G. Wells, she would have thought being in another dimension was complete poppycock. Yet as it stood, she didn't argue against that possibility because she dreamt of things that were impossible. While she had yet to write any of her novels or build her own time machine or the Imperceptor Vest, she had written short stories and had built some smaller innovations.

"Another dimension. So where exactly are we?" She was upset still, but she was completely able to listen to reason and logic. Even though discussion of a different dimension could be questionable about whether it was logical or not, but that was besides the point. That was one major difference between this Helena and the older one. Logic and reasoning had a much easier time getting through to her and she didn't fall into emotional throes as easily.

Helena was able to fill in the rest of the sentence Myka had left unfinished. But of course to her, them being together wasn't serious. She interpreted it as any relationship she had in her own time, being only physical and nothing more committed. "So we met here, then?" Myka wasn't an agent she knew at Warehouse 12, so she was assuming she was from a different Warehouse and clearly the only way they could have met was for them both to have shown up here. Time travel was a concept that had yet to become a reality for her.

As for Christina and returning home, Helena nodded slightly. "And how precisely do I return home?" Because of course she wanted to get back to Christina and ensure she was alright.

Myka scooted off the bed, still clutching the bulky blanket. It made maneuvering difficult, but she was determined to keep it near here.

“The Land of Make Believe. You can so laugh at that, but it’s true... But, no, we actually met back on Earth, uh, in the twenty first century.” Myka figured she should lie as little as possible. “An incident of time travel, or three. I’m not quite sure how time travel is possible.” Which wasn’t too much of a lie, time travel was difficult for anyone to wrap their minds around. “You were older, and uh, this,” she made a circling gesture with her hands to include herself, Helena, and the bed. “All happened here.”

She finished that off with one of her classic Myka nervous laughs.

“The only option for going home is waiting for whatever powers are in charge here decide to send you home. I’m sorry. You must really want to get back to your daughter. But I promise, when you go home, it will be for her as if you never left.”

"The Land of Make Believe?" Helena did actually laugh in response to that. "That makes it sound like we are in some child's fairytale." Of course she would go from a world of Endless Wonder to a world of Make Believe. She could imagine the lectures Caturanga would have about this. Helena only paid partial attention to the fact Myka was naked under the bulky blanket she had clutched around her. As much as she appreciated a naked woman, there were actually more pressing matters at hand currently.

Such as the time travel aspect. Helena's brow furrowed in slight confusion for some moments. To her mind, time travel wasn't unattainable, and really given the Warehouse, there were no doubt Artifacts in existence that could manipulate time. "So in my future, I time travel to the twenty-first century and meet you. Perhaps an Artifact sent me into the future. Or perhaps I learned the secret of time travel?" There was more than a note of pride in that possibility. Helena would love to figure out how to time travel. Little did she know what the future held for her.

"Ah, I see." Noting Myka's laugh, Helena finally uncrossed her arms. "I have to say, this was not how I planned to wake up this morning, and no doubt the same goes for you. I am sorry for putting you in this situation." Not that it was her fault, she didn't ask to be brought here, but she still felt the need to apologize. No doubt Myka would rather have the lover that actually knew her here instead of the one that was there now.

"I hope that you are right," she responded with a bit of a smile. Sitting around and waiting to be sent home wasn't exactly something she liked, but apparently there was nothing she could do about it. "I would like to go back home, yes. Since I was recruited to the Warehouse, I don't get to spend as much time as I would like with Christina." And that was perhaps the saddest part of Helena's story. If she hadn't been recruited to the Warehouse, she would've had the time for Christina, and her daughter never would have been in Paris on that fateful day. It was little wonder why Helena, the older one, harbored hatred for the Warehouse.

Myka did notice the changes in Helena, it was difficult not to. But to comment on that would not be good, she knew. Because she knew all of these changes were due to the fact Christina was still alive in Helena’s life. Myka couldn’t be the one to take that from her.

Her brow scrunched up as she looked at Helena. “You know, really, time travel is one of those things that really eludes my understanding. I get caught up in the paradoxes of it all. Like, did the time travel result from the circumstances of the time or did the circumstances require time travel to become… circumstances in the first place? Circular problems like that-” She threw up her hand and shrug as a finish to that thought.

“And, I’m fine.” Myka wasn’t sure if that was the whole truth, her girlfriend did just wake up not remembering anything about her. But she had to consider, this was not the worst thing she’d experienced. Perspective was working wonders right now to help her keep her wits. “It’s shocking, but I think it’s more so for you.”

She looked around on the ground for her clothes from last night so she could drop her ridiculous makeshift robe. She offered Helena a sympathetic smile.

“Are you… okay?”

Helena nodded, accepting that response so she didn't press the topic further. It was something she could ponder about while she was here, she supposed. It was a topic she hadn't really thought about overly deeply yet. But it was certainly an idea she could toss around for a story. It would make quite the excellent story, she had to say.

She wasn't completely certain Myka's answer was the truth, but she didn't know her well enough, or at all, to press the issue. Though that was when she realized she still didn't even know her name. A look of slight embarrassment came over her. "This is undoubtedly not what you want to hear right now, nor is it something I'm accustomed to asking in this situation, but what is your name?" When Helena was in bed with a naked person, she did always know their name and something about them.

At Myka's question to her, Helena gave her a small smile. "I'll be fine." It wasn't a complete direct answer, but it left enough to say that she wasn't fine. Helena didn't like this sudden separation from Christina and her life, but there was nothing she could do about it right now. No Artifact could be neutralized to instantly return her home, so Helena simply had to go with it. While she may emotionally be lighter than the Helena that Myka knew, this Helena had thick barriers around her heart. Those barriers no longer existed with the older Helena in regards to Myka.

“Oh!” Myka was busy pulling her clothes on over her head while still holding the blanket. Her head popped out with a very embarrassed and surprised look on it. “I’m Myka.”

Now that she had a good veneer of modesty, she could put Helena’s comforter back on her bed. It would have been rude to take the blanket all the way back to her room.

“I know it’s hard- first arriving here.” She knew that Helena, even a version from before her daughter’s death, wouldn’t be as ‘fine’ as Helena now said. “But there are a lot of good people here you were friends with. We’ll help you through this if you need anything.”

"Myka, a beautiful name. It is a pleasure to meet you. Again." Helena said with a smile and bow of her head.

"Thank you, you are very kind." She wasn't even half as fine as she was pretending to be. Helena was nothing if she couldn't keep her poker face on. She didn't like being suddenly plucked out of her life and being thrown into a completely different place.

Helena glanced around the room again briefly. "So is this your room or mine?" The concept of it potentially being theirs wasn't anywhere in her mind at the moment. She didn't know how serious the relationship was, and she wasn't entirely certain she wanted to know either. At least not in this moment. Monogamous relationships were so not her thing at all. "And are there clothes that I may wear?"

“Oh, uh, thank you.” Myka couldn’t help but be somewhat flattered. This might be a younger version of her girlfriend, but she sounded and looked like her girlfriend. It was hard to disassociate the sound of that voice she knew from the woman in front of her.

However, Helena gave her something that could help her focus. Something to explain.

“Right. Your clothes are through there.” She pointed to the door to the walk in closet. “Most of what you have here is modern clothes. Sorry, I think you’ll find them shocking.”

This no doubt was incredibly strange and awkward for Myka, and for once Helena wasn't certain who was feeling more awkward here, herself or Myka. It was rather incredibly awkward for both of them, so it was undoubtedly a bit of a toss up there.

Looking to where Myka pointed, she couldn't help but think that was a lovely sized closet. Turning back to Myka, she smiled, though it wasn't exactly one that reached her eyes. "What sorts of outlandish things are in my wardrobe, I wonder? As long as there are pants and a distinct lack of corsets, I think I shall manage." She inserted humor there because they could both use it, and plus Helena just liked utilizing humor where she could. "That is something I do enjoy about the Warehouse, being able to wear pants because tracking Artifacts in skirts never works. Well, almost never. And one can simply forget running or exerting yourself while wearing a corset unless you wish to not breathe."
