Ani looked away. Simply put, meditation was sometimes scary, like it was today, but Jedi weren’t supposed to feel fear. That was the start down the path to the Dark Side. He still wasn’t sure if Obi-Wan even liked him, but needing to know that was an indication of attachment, which was another way towards the Dark Side. And admitting any of this was an indication he wasn’t trying hard enough, and if he wasn’t taking this seriously enough Obi-Wan would stop training him, and then what did he have… But that just brought him back to fear and attachment, the fear of losing attachments, and the fact he was not living up to the promise he would take this seriously.
Like a house set on a spindly foundation, even one small part admitted to spelled destruction for the whole abode, as Ani understood it.
If he couldn’t admit to any of his fears or concerns, he reached for an answer that would satisfy. “I’m not focusing like I should. I’m sorry. I’ll do better.”
