Anakin listened to the explanation intently, but he had questions himself – beyond the obvious ‘how in the universe does magic even work’. He was used to powerful abilities, he was a Jedi after all, but as he understood it, the Force was quite different than the magic of James’ world. Which was, incidentally, why he took Harry up on the offer to show him some ideas of bike-theft by child prevention. But the ‘how’ of magic was a philosophical discussion for a different time. Anakin’s question revolved around something else entirely.
“How does it determine age, this age-line?” he started, crossing his arms. “As I am to understand it a standard year in my universe is longer than a standard year in yours. Standard weeks and months are measured differently.” This was important in that not letting the boy have any loopholes to slip through was key to any measures of prevention Anakin undertook.
