Claudia sat, scratching behind Dee's ears. The kitten was adorable, though Claudia was still more of a dog person. Roan had taken to planting himself at the base of the couch, however, and wasn't quite as enthusiastic or happy as normal. She figured he knew Pete was gone, probably even missed him. She couldn't blame the dog. For all of Pete's faults, he had a lot of good traits. He was loyal, brave... fun. She hoped either everyone could return soon (and preferably all live and save the world from the plague,) or that Pete would reappear with a sane Artie in tow. But that was a lot to hope for.

After a few moments she sat the cat down next to the dog and watched Dee walk over to climb on the overgrown pup, who reacted goodnaturedly with a small wiggle of his head and what she could've sworn was a grumble had it not been from a dog. There was probably going to have to be kitty/dog playdates once Elena was back from her road trip.

"Steve," Claudia looked over to the chair where her friend was, not waiting for his response before taking a couch pillow and tossing it (rather casually) in his direction. Her general aim was for his head, but she figured anywhere would do so long as it hit Steve and not a decorative bauble or a lamp."How much junk have you acquired since you arrived here?" Never mind how random the question was, or the fact that the TV was blaring away. Claudia had fixated on a line of thinking and wanted an answer.

Steve gave her a slight smirk. "I dunno...original Scotty was kind of cute..." he trained off, his eyes twinkling with silent laughter. As she spoke of where Piotr was from he pointed at her. "That's where I knew the name from. Like I said, he seems really nice."

As she spoke of how gross it was to think about HG and Myka 'sleeping' together, he chuckled. "My bad." He rose carefully to his feet as well and headed for the door. "I will. It's just after arriving here, learning what awaits us in the future then Pete..." He shrugged. "But right, meet and greet." He followed her dutifully knowing full well that she'd drag him if she felt the need to. Not that he would have minded but still.

Claudia rolled her eyes and made a face, though her amusement was more a result of seeing Steve's eyes twinkle rather than the actual joke. Still, after a moment she let out a quiet sigh as her mind strayed to Pete.

She opened the door before admitting, "Pete said he was having a hard time finding the right AA meeting here... and said a few things that seemed a little off for him. I think he was trying to be really cheerful for all of us, but - I think he was having problems with what awaits us in the future too. You know if you have - stuff like that you need to discuss or whatever, you're obligated to talk to me or I'll pester you until you do."

"And yes, meet and greet. The socially awkward techie shouldn't have more friends than you." Back to teasing Steve. She reached to give him a slight nudge in the side before starting the very small walk to his (now former) room. "Any sort in particular you want to meet? Wizard, witch, sci-fi, Jedi, evil guy? Oh my -" Claudia had to laugh at herself as she dissolved into rhyming.

Steve nodded some as Claudia spoke about Pete. "I know. I wanted to ask him about it but part of me was afraid he'd try to lie and say he was fine." While Steve found his gift useful in the whole law enforcement and artifact gathering, he really did wish it came with an off button. Going on dates where guys lied about things was hard to put up with.

"I have no doubt you'd pester me until I either caved or went mad. Perhaps both." He nudged her. "Goes both ways y'know," he said. "If you need to talk I'm here Claud."

He rolled his eyes at her as she spoke about him needing more friends. "Hey, I'm working on. I've talked with Piotr and that Karrin woman." He let out a sigh. "Okay okay, I need to be more social." He grinned at her rhyme and playfully shoved her. "Smartass."

"I'm not the human lie detector and I knew he was skirting it. I guess it doesn't quite matter anymore, but it brings the question of what we should do if he shows up here again and... doesn't know." Claudia wasn't used to lying to Pete, but she didn't exactly want to sent him over the edge either. She imagined the group needed to have an agreed upon stance on what to do. Then again, how would they approach it if Artie showed up? Or Leena? "And I know. Both ways. Annnd now I'm depressed again, so let's focus on something not depressing and we can talk that sort of stuff at a later date after we've finished rifling through your stuff."

"Complete smartass, but you know I'm still right." She grinned and moved to head into the room. "Either you need friends or I'll have to start getting you fur-covered friends, and I don't know that you're the petting zoo type."

He nodded some but shrugged. "Okay so happier subjects," he agreed. He smirked some and looked at her. "Hey, better to be a smartass than a dumbass," he pointed out. "And you know I'd care for any animal you got me. I am a Buddhist and we do value all life."

"So true. I wear my smartass devil-child badge with pride." Claudia broke into a slow (and devious) grin while standing there and waiting for Steve to direct her into what she should carry. "And hmm! Are you more of a 'cat person' or more of a 'dog person?' Or - maybe you're more of a fennec fox sort, or something really exotic like that..."

He chuckled some. He began packing his clothes and shoes he had acquired up and carried them over to the door. "Alright pack mule, let's get me moved," he said. "And if we're talking exotic animals, how about a tiger or dragon or something?" he said, grinning.

Claudia, carrying shoes, mocked him a little by giving the container a little whiff and making a screwed up face. "These shoes would scare a tiger off... and no dragon for you."

"You never addressed who you planned to use ketchup in relation to the dragons. No dragon for you, no dragon watching, no stuffed dragons, nothing." She made a face at him, then left the room to drag the stuff over to Steve's new room.

Steve rolled his eyes. "Ha ha very funny," he shot back. "I take better care of my hygeine than that. Besides, the smell would keep the dragon and tiger from eating my shoes."

At the ketchup comment he shrugged. "Whoever annoyed me would get ketchup on them and then be chased by a dragon. I feel this validates my need for a pet dragon and I demand it to happen or I will Vulcan neck pinch you. I was Spock you know," he grinned.

Claudia just grinned at getting an eyeroll out of Steve. She figured it was her duty to pester him on some level, so that was just an indicator that she was doing her job right. "Uh-huh, and how many trips do we need to make, would you guess? Fill in your packmule."

"Hmm! Considering I'm the one who tends to annoy you, however purposeful or not purposeful being completely irrelevant, I would say I'm making a choice between ketchup in my hair with a dragon chasing me or a Vulcan neck pinch." Claudia paused, briefly, to open the door and go into the living room. She waited until she was in Steve's new room (where she dropped the shoes rather casually) to answer. "I was Wenda, from Where's Waldo?, you know. And she had the ability to -"

With that, Claudia made a dash to exit the room and avoid the threatened Vulcan neck pinch. She wasn't going far, but it playfully made her point.
