It was rainy, yet again. Humid, on some level, due to all of the water. Padmé should've and likely could've found it comforting or relaxing on some level, even if it was a bit cool given the time of year. Still, she didn't. She was alone in the bed and her mind was far too preoccupied for sleep. She got up out of bed, finally giving up on even trying to sleep.

She pulled a chair over to the window, tucking her legs up and watching outside the window as water fell against the glass. It didn't take long before her phone made its way into her hands, all the same, and she started to look through information about her "fictional" reality. Since Satine's return, she still found her mind straying to her friend on a number of occasions. Her fate was, ultimately, unknown. Sabé's eventual role in the Rebel Alliance as well as her working with Bail Organa made Padmé proud of her handmaiden.

After several pages of skimming, finding a number of them to be depressing, she finally found a page that brought a sense of relief and a smile to her face. She sat there, staring at it, and was still staring at it when Anakin came into the room.

I believe that the love story between Anakin and Padmé is one of the most pivotal aspects of the Star Wars chronologies. The love Anakin had for Padmé was the moving force that led him to turn to the dark side and the force that also saved him. You said Anakin is reunited with Padmé in the afterlife. Do they stand together in the afterlife and find their happiness together? I hope so. All of us who fight for Human suffering can all face a similar fate as that of Anakin Skywalker because temptation to become corrupt exists all too readily... I don't reveal much information about the Star Wars afterlife because what comes next should be beyond our imagination. I can say Anakin and Padmé are reunited for eternity, but I can't give specifics on what transpires for endless eons. Somethings are best left forever mysterious.

Padmé shifted, only slightly, to lean slightly back against him. She had no desire to die, no desire to lose Anakin, but at the same time there was a tangible sense of relief that the time in the Land of Make Believe wouldn't be the end of her time to get to know her extended family... and the brief few years after the Land of Make Believe wouldn't be the extent of her time with Anakin.

"It seems someone or something or - whatever it is finally listened to me on a matter." Padmé said quietly after a few moments of blissful peace and connection, a tad smug and all too happy that somehow something had finally put a happy ending on her story. And there was no mistaking it, an eternity reunited with Anakin was an extremely happy ending.

It was almost enough to distract her from the fact that the loving and adoring husband nuzzling against her was, still, naked. But even the idea of blissful reuniting couldn't distract fully from the immediate, the now, the naked. "Ani," Padmé lifted her head to allow him full freedom to get up. There was a distinct hint of a flush on her cheeks, despite being a married woman, "You should probably get some pants on... avoid catching cold."

Anakin, looking up over his brow from where his head rested on Padmé shoulder, caught the smug look on his wife’s face fade into a flush. Now that wasn’t something he was oblivious to.

“What?” his voice sounded lighter than it had in days. He still missed his friend, and would until he saw Obi-Wan again, but he decided he could let himself feel some measure of joy over the information about their future Padmé had discovered. For once it was a foretelling that didn’t portend sorrow and doom. It was something to they could and should take joy in.

As it was, this moment had brought some of his old playfulness back, and he found it simple enough to fake a bit of ignorance at Padmé concern.

“It’s just a body, Padmé. It matters not if it gets sick.” He nudged his forehead gently against her shoulder. Maybe even a few laugh lines creased around his eyes, but that could be just an allusion created by the low light of their room.

“Or we could just slip under the sheets as is…”

Padmé's lips pursed, a perhaps futile attempt to hide the burgeoning smile at Anakin's playfulness. It was hard not to react well to such an attitude from Anakin. She knew what she was about to say would only worsen her flush, but she said it anyhow, "Well, it's a body - and a being in a body - that I'm quite fond of."

She shifted a little to place her far hand on the side of Anakin's head to hold it still for a moment and kissed the top of his forehead. It was an attempt to still him for a moment, that and to play at distracting him. A bit of verbal play, a hint of banter, a hint of teasing fun.

"So it matters to me. If slipping under the sheets as-is would warm you up..."

“But Padmé…” he drew out the last vowel of her name. However, he was hardly putting forth all his effort to contradict her. He caved, giving Padmé the satisfaction of winning the argument, even if there never was a real distinction of sides in the first place. He closed his eyes and nuzzled her shoulder again. A soft groan of mock defeat escaped him. “Fine, it’s more than a body.” But not above delivering one last devastating underhanded blow before he conceded to a cease fire, he continued, “It, and the life that lives in it, are, and have always been, yours.”

He pulled back then, though he didn’t stand up. He was waiting for Padmé to direct him, as, of course, he was now her political prisoner who had surrendered.

“Under the covers? Yes,” he nodded, “I imagine we can find ways to make it warm. We could try drawing the curtains around the bed. Or you could try holding me close?”

Anakin could be far too cute sometimes, especially for a Jedi. Padmé knew that side was one that only privileged people got to see, really, and she knew she was among the luckiest of those privileged people. Really, she thought she was the luckiest person regardless. Her future would be messed up due to Palpatine's manipulations and her former security captain's betrayal but, for now, none of that mattered... and in the long run, not even they would be able to take a happy ending away from her.

"Or we could do both." Padmé said with a rather large smile making its way onto her features. "After all... I don't want you to be cold."

She moved to stand and head over to the bed, leaving the chair where it was for the time being. It could stay, even, for another rainy night when she couldn't sleep. But, for now, she had happiness and she had her husband. She didn't have anything more she could've wished for.
