Who: Claudia Donovan, Anakin Skywalker
What: Lightsaber touching
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: The big lawns, far away from people
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 / Potential for language
Status: Closed / Incomplete

It was Sunday, which meant the next day was Monday. Claudia knew that there was the supposedly notable episode of Warehouse 13 the next day and she was, as a whole, worried. She had legit reason to be worried after all. The preview for the episode had been rather doom and gloom filled and, of course, it was life and death. When weren't things with the Warehouse, though? She had a t-shirt at home with Godfrid's Ladle on it for a reason. The 'artifacts that almost killed you' shirts had been a big Christmas hit, actually. But the fact was that danger seemed to go with the Warehouse. It didn't mean she was okay with it, because she didn't want any of her family getting hurt, but it wasn't the time to focus on such things.

Claudia needed to focus on a distraction and, as circumstances had it, she had the perfect distraction lined up. Anakin had said that she could touch the lightsaber he had received from home. On a total nerd level, she knew she would have ultimate bragging rights here. She had thought the lightsaber handling lecture would be fun, too, but it had started to drag on a bit. Her eyes were starting to glaze over a bit. It wasn't a proper, fun distraction if she got distracted due to boredom in the midst of it.

Anakin raised an eyebrow and withdrew the lightsaber from Claudia’s reach. That was not the all-encompassing answer he was waiting for.

“I would hope you wouldn’t do that, Ms. Donovan.” Her last name was almost habit to say now; when the lesson was over he might find it hard to transition back to Claudia, though he was sure she wouldn’t let him get away with that for long.

“Close, but try again. Think empathically. I know you know about weapons safety with that version of a blaster you have. The first rule for every weapon should be the same.”

Empathetical. She could do that. The very mention implied what she should be thinking about in Anakin's mind, anyhow, and his bit about every weapon. "You mean the 'blaster' where I redesigned the power source to allow for shorter recharging time and mobile charging? Oh, okay. And - very few people know I have it, so could we keep that on the down low?"

"Only point a weapon at someone when there's possible need to use it, so - don't point it right at your face as I go to turn it on, or at any other limbs."

Anakin didn’t know anything about Claudia’s weapon, only that she had one that bore the unmistakable design of being a blaster. He did not press for clarification on design and function of her weapon. That was not the point of their session.

“Of course,” he said, simply. He had a firm understanding of what it meant to be discrete, if Claudia didn’t want him mentioning it he would not.

He brought the discussion back on target by presenting the lightsaber again. “I would appreciate your restraint, Ms. Donovan.” Not that he was without defenses if she tried. “The removal of my limbs is reserved for someone else.” And yes, he did say that with something of a small, wicked grin on his features. Perhaps he was entirely too comfortable knowing his future?

But why dwell on that? He angled the lightsaber so that the blade end faced up between them and decidedly not towards either of their faces. His hand gripped the bottom end leaving space for Claudia to grab hold.

Claudia started to make a face and roll her eyes at the extremely morbid joke, a crack back on the tip of her tongue, but then he held the lightsaber out. It was just that easy to swap her attention onto the far more positive aspect.

She was careful, but not hesitant, grinning as she reached to grab hold. She was surprised at how little it weighed, but thoughts of it were gone as she pressed the button twice and watched the light blade come out of it with hum. She was rather sure that somewhere, it was if millions of voices of fanboys suddenly cried out in jealousy, and were unable to be silenced. "Dude," Claudia grinned, taking care to consider her position in relation to Anakin's and keeping the lightsaber pointed away from anyone's body parts, "This is epic."
