Who: Padmé Amidala Skywalker and Albus Potter
What: Furthering Padmé's culinary knowledge
When: Monday, September 3, 2012 - late evening
Where: Castle kitchen
Rating/Warnings: Low; will change if necessary
Status: Incomplete/Closed

Padmé had left behind the paperwork of the "application" she was working on for a job she wanted to inquire about, stealing away to the kitchens instead. Anakin was working on something electronic and that wasn't anything she wished to interrupt by dragging him along with her and, really, Padmé enjoyed getting out on her own on occasion. She would bring something back for him, if anything stood out to her and seemed like something Anakin needed to try.

Granted, the kitchens were a space where Padmé tended to lose track of time. It wasn't due to a great interest in cooking, though she wasn't bad at cooking or baking. It was because so much of the contents were new. The foods had notable similarities, at times, but there was always a new aspect of the culinary culture of Earth to experience. It was with that sense of curiosity that she, politely, asked a young man cooking in the kitchens. "I'm sorry, but - what is that you're making?"

"Soup! Or, well, suppose it's more of a stew, not a lot of room left for the broth." Al clonked his head against a cupboard door, sending a small plate of chopped carrots toward the floor. It would be a brilliant time to curse. Truly. Absolutely the best, between the head smacking and the carrot dropping, but he was in too good of a mood to be fussed.

Said good mood mostly coming from being off a probation period at work. Honestly, he wasn't sure the ladies weren't teasing him just a little bit over it all. They hadn't even made it hard to come back to work, they just enjoyed heckling him whenever something went wrong.

"If you're hungry, we've got some bread just out of the oven over there." He tried, sort of, to gesture at a far metal rack where trays of bread loaves were cooling.

Padmé was staring at the contents, trying to identify the ingredients she did know, when the man knocked into the cupboard door. She jumped a little and was about to ask if he was okay when he continued on.

"I am. What sort of bread is it?" Padmé moved to glance at the loafs, quickly deciding they were still a bit too hot to cut into. She instead turned back to the man cooking and decided to put a bit of explanation behind her questions. "I've been here - just over three months. I'm not quite used to the 'earth' cuisine. Some things are similar to my home world or places I've eaten things from, others not so much."

"Probably about to stick my foot in it," Al said, setting down the now emptied plate, lifting another with onions on it, "but have you been sick because of any of it. Different foods from different places with different digestive systems."

"It's wheat. Pretty standard, not fancy. It tastes good when hot though, if you're going to try."

"Not terribly, no. I - was a Senator before I came here, so I've had an expose to a number of cultures' cuisines. I've severely disliked a thing or two, but I've had no real issues adjusting." Padmé responded with an arched brow, glancing at the young man. It was a friendly topic, but a bit odd to be discussing with a stranger. "I am having a bit of a time finding names to go along with everything."

"So - 'regular' is with wheat. I've had that. It's good. Fluffy." Padmé nodded and smiled, ever polite, despite the explanation being small. "Thank you."

"Uh. Well, sort of? It's a kind. There are a few different types of wheat bread."

Al nodded, uncertain. It wasn't something he'd ever run up against, but he understood it, theoretically. He just wasn't exactly sure he was the right sort of person for this job. Half the time his descriptions were windy and useless. "Here come and try this."

"All common as 'regular' bread?" Padmé questioned, moving to do as instructed. A small taste later it earned an approving nod, though it took a moment for her to decide. "It seems like something that would be good for on a cooler -" Except one didn't travel to cooler or cold climate planets, "- day."

"If I may ask - do you have a name?" Padmé asked politely, though not pressing. "I'm Padmé."
