Who: Anakin and Padmé
What: What else do they do but frolic in the golden glow of their love for each other? <-- Who barffed at this?! Inquiring minds want to know!
When: Thursday afternoon/evening
Where: South end of the lake, where there are fields. Where else does one frolic?
Rating/Warnings: These two are the most chaste forbidden lovers ever – what do you think will happen? (probably low, will update if necessary)

Padmé had listed: afternoon, out of doors, shade, and blanket. This had Anakin confused. So many years hiding their relationship when outside of the secret-concealing confines of Padmé’s residences the prospect of expressing love for each other where others could potentially see was foreign, and his knee-jerk reaction was to fight against it. They weren’t basking in the sun of Varykino, with no one around but their own eyes to worry about. While that was a castle full of people behind them, who, yes, all knew, or could know about their relationship, it was still difficult not to feel uneasy. He was trying his best to override ingrained habits.

“Is that the proper distribution of shade for you?” He asked his companion and pointed, with the hand holding the required blanket, towards a large tree surrounded by the tall grass. Having had no time to develop a knowledge for romantic settings, shade was shade to Anakin, unless it had military advantage, and then it could be used strategically. He might not intrinsically understand romance, but he was sure Padmé wasn’t looking to stage an armed confrontation with that outcropping of trees in the distance. He would defer to her expertise on the correct amount of shade for relaxation.

"Anakin Skywalker, teacher -" Padmé smiled and laid back as well, curling up against Anakin so she could look up into the shady, slightly rustling leaves. It was relaxing, comforting. She felt safe, in no small means, laying there with Anakin. She could certainly see doing it again if given the chance.

"That's something we haven't done before the wedding!" Padmé shifted a little to look up at Anakin's face. "What are we doing about surnames? My brother-in-law took on Naberrie due to the name being of more social note than his family's name. Last time, since it was a secret, I'm guessing that we kept our names the same."

Padmé wasn't sure what idea she liked. She did know she liked the idea of turning it to something light and, with a hint of a smirk, she pointed out, "And there's the matter of my royal name. Anakin Amidala? Does that sound funny?"

“What’s wrong with that? I’ve had an apprentice before-” He started to counter what he was sure to be some mild jibbing on Padmé’s part about the additional responsibilities of his job. But she seemed to have jumped transports to a new idea altogether. He had closed his eyes when he had lain back, but now he opened them, to better grasp what Padmé was getting at.

“Yes, we did discuss that. Anakin Naberrie or Anakin Amidala would have been difficult to conceal, the Council wasn’t that blind,” he said dryly. He continued on, giving the idea only a cursory pause. He didn’t need much time to come to a conclusion. “If you wish me to take your last name, either one, I would do it.” And besides, something that declared they were actually married sounded very appealing to him. That had not been a luxury before.

"Was I amused when you received your Padawan?" Padmé smiled, letting a breath out and wondering if she was enjoying curling up against Anakin a little too much. It was a bit - much, for a public display, given the fact they weren't married yet. But at the same time, Padmé didn't care. She was tired of hiding, of caution. She was a week away from being married to Anakin; if she felt less guilt over it, she would've already been sleeping in the same bed as Anakin. She wouldn't have done anything inappropriate, but she liked being close to him. "You do seem good with younger people, so long as they don't have a blaster."

"Luke is still a Skywalker. There's something about the name that - we're linked to, regardless, and I want to be linked. I know I don't know Leia, but if she comes here at any age, I want to have it - open as well. Perhaps something hyphenated?" Skywalker had a positive meaning behind it and Padmé didn't want that lost. She wanted him to have the option, though. If he wanted to cut ties, she wouldn't argue.

“Received isn’t the word I would use.” Anakin made a face thinking about how Obi-Wan and Master Yoda had tricked, cajoled, and basically forced Ahsoka into his charge. “But amused is the right word.”

Anakin bit back the comment about what his future held for the younglings at the temple. This was supposed to be a light, happy evening spent together. But he did unconsciously shift his arm to pull Padmé closer. She and Luke were the only ones that saw good in him right now.

“Leia was adopted by Senator Organa, she never uses the Skywalker name.” Clearly he was sinking past the levity they were meant to be indulging. Realizing this he chewed on his lower lip momentarily before continuing, “If that’s what you would like, then I will agree to it.”

Padmé didn't want to pick a fight over that aspect, of all things, of what manipulation there might have been of Anakin. He spoke fondly of Ahsoka, when he mentioned his former apprentice. It seemed like it had perhaps had a positive influence on him. She just smiled, settled against him as he pulled her a little closer, and let a small laugh escape. "Nothing like a young person to help one with patience. And - thank you for being patient with me, all things considered, when I was aged down."

"She may not use it, but she knows it. She identifies Luke as her brother." And neither had known Padmé's name until a late age and, even then, she didn't know if either knew of her surname. It was saddening though and Padmé didn't want to focus on that. "And it is."

"What do you want to do on our honeymoon, Ani, besides - well, the obvious?"

The issue of the last name mostly settled, really, they just had to decide Naberrie or Amidala, Anakin nodded and returned to closing his eyes to bask in the dappled light that filtered through the leaves of the canopy above them.

“You mean… you want to go out and do… things?” He was uncertain what Padmé was getting at. He had honestly not thought about doing much over the few days they’d set aside for just themselves. The concept, spending a few days alone together without the threat of any kind of interruption, like all things with Padmé and his relationship with her, he had come to realize, was novel. They had the barest of workings of a relationship before due to their circumstances. He had thought setting out on this un-hidden relationship would be just like the one they had before, just not hidden. He was discovering there was so much more to it than stolen kisses in out of the way corners.

Padmé was, if anything, patient when it came to Anakin. She knew that he was used to a code of guidelines on how to live his life as well as a way that their relationship worked. He was working to adjust and she knew it. He had come from a point in his timeline where she was pregnant with twins and had transitioned backward. He had allowed her time to process and had allowed her to decide the status of their relationship. He had proposed, when she had insisted she did find it necessary. He was going to marry her again. He was working to expound on his emotions rather than ignore them. They were little things, but they were all little things that would have gone against the Jedi Code that also required a certain mindset where Anakin could do them (hopefully) without guilt or with his guilt lessening with time. Padmé appreciated that.

"The only people who know us are at the castle and, even if they spot us, what's the harm? Do you want to stay indoors the entire time we're away from the castle?" Padmé questioned, figuring that Anakin would likely have an opinion on that. Even if he was willing to go with her idea most of the time, he wasn't always the most patient when it came to being idle and she knew it. She couldn't imagine their entire honeymoon would leave them occupied in their room, either.

Padmé had a point. Anakin wasn’t good at staying in one spot for very long. If he could move about a room he could last longer, but being confined to a restricting radius would be anxiety inducing if he wasn’t a Jedi. Perhaps there were a few things they could do, providing them the space to move around at periodic moments over the weekend following their wedding, it would be a good thing after all.

“Alright, you bring up valid arguments,” he said. “If there’s something you’re interested in doing, I will not object.”

Padmé smiled and shifted to plant a light kiss on Anakin's cheek, then settled down again to continue their plan of relaxing together and watching the sunset. She always felt safe with Anakin and she was starting to feel completely without worry in that moment. It was about enjoying the moment and looking forward to her future... to their future. She knew what would happen after this place ended but, for the time being, it felt like there would never be an end and need to face that future.

"I'll figure something out before our honeymoon. I'm sure I can find something we would both enjoy." She knew they were going to have quite a few things that they would enjoy on their honeymoon. All they needed to do was wait until the tenth.
