I'm thinking of getting a cat. Or something.

How do you feel about pets?

Some are, but you don't own a dog. The dog owns you. Of course, there's no illusion otherwise with cats' opinion. At least the dog will let you think you're the owner most of the time if you get one with the right temperament.

If you got a bird, I'd have to call you a pirate and I don't think I'd be the only one.

If you really want something different, I'd say the bird should be skipped. There are ferrets, a few types of foxes, or a hedgehog at least. Or you could just get a hamster, turtle, or some fish if you want really low maintenance.

I like pugs. I like their smooshed in faces.

Strong willed, but not often aggressive. The oh so wise google says the main thing to pay attention to when you pick one out is if they can breathe properly.
