“She’s your mother. You could be visiting every day and she’d still find you weren’t spending enough time there, right?” At least that was how her own mother was when it came to Alicia and her brother spending time with the family. Her smile warmed and brightened and she only just managed to stop herself from cooing when she heard that Adrian had a little niece. “So you’re an uncle,” she grinned. “Unca Adi?”
Thanking the server as he brought over a drink, Alicia lifted hers to match Adrian’s. “To new experiences,” she agreed, and took a generous sip. And then it felt like her mouth was on fire. “Whoooo,” she said, her eyes getting moist from the strong liquour. Alicia wasn’t much of a drink and this? This could easily rival – if not surpass – Firewhiskey when it came to flammability. She breathed deeply again, then nodded. “You’ll end up having to carry me home if we have more than this one,” she chuckled. “And my family’s based in Bath. Have been for generations. Mum and dad, both born and raised in Bath, right next door to each other, no less. All four grandparents were born there, too, so Sam, my brother, and his wife, Emilie, and their two children, Amelia and Nigel living in London and me living in Glasgow… Well, let’s just say that they claim we don’t spend enough time in Bath either.”
