From what he’d heard about Africa while growing up, Cináed was very surprised to find the Masai Mara as green and temperate as it was. It wasn’t dry and yellow and scorchingly hot like most children’s stories tended to paint it as, but it was… nice… and fascinating. The wildlife was extraordinary, and even being around dragons on a daily basis, Cináed had to admit that seeing an actual wildebeest with a seemingly newborn calf was astonishing.

Dismounting his horse when they came to a place that invited to be walked rather than ridden, he kept the reins loose in his hand as he came up to Millicent. “You’ve ridden before?” he asked, not even thinking twice when he reached out and laced his fingers through hers.
