What: Costume woes aka trying to decide on a costume

Of course it was just her luck that she would be thrust into a strange world you couldn't leave so close to Halloween. Martha liked taking time to decide on her costume and here she was, a week to go before Halloween, and she had no clue. She could, of course, dress up like The Doctor, but she decided that would be too weird. So she decided to come to the store and browse the costume racks for an idea since sitting around didn't help her any.

Her gaze ran over the items. Witches - she had enough of those, thank you. Doctor - she was officially one so no chance there. Robot - Out of the question. Pig person - nope. It was only when she came to the maid costume that she stopped and picked it up off the rack. She looked at it with a slightly furrowed brow and then back at the other costumes. There were, of course, other costumes interspersed with the ones she noticed, but her mind was focusing on those ones in particular. "Talk about deja vu." She made a face at the maid costume and put it back on the rack - she definitely had enough time dressed as a maid for a life time.

Sydney hadn't gone to the Halloween party that Adrian went to, but she had agreed to consider a 'couples costume' with him. At the moment he was at work but she had worked the morning shift, so she'd decided to visit the store herself to see what was to be had. Most of them didn't seem to be made very well while they still had very large prices, and it was kind of ridiculous.

When she heard a voice behind her, Sydney glanced over and arched a brow as she saw the woman putting a costume back in its place. "You've worn that one before?" She asked curiously, despite herself.

Martha laughed, though it wasn't directed at the woman so much as it was directed to life in general. It was definitely her lot in life to walk into a costume shop and find herself surrounded by costumes that reminded her of her travels with the Doctor.

"Yeah, you could say that. Only I wore it less as a costume and more of a uniform and it wasn't exactly be choice." Though as Martha said it, she realized it could have come off as her having been a slave. "Not that I didn't have a choice, but I was traveling back in time and there's not exactly a lot of jobs for a woman that looks like me in the past."

Syd blinked a couple times at the first part of the explanation, a little concerned, before relaxing when Martha continued. "I see - wait. You traveled back in time? How is that possible?" She could only assume that it was somehow related to the Dome, because time travel wasn't exactly something that happened in her own world - even with magic.

"If you don't mind me asking, of course. And I'm sorry I've been so rude. I'm Sydney Sage," she said before holding out a hand.

"Oh, I don't mind. It's actually kind of nice people able to talk about it to people here and people just accepting it, you know? Helps that this place is a bit of the strange too, yeah?" Apart from being away from her family, Martha didn't mind the place too much.

She shook the woman's hand with a smile. "Martha. Martha Jones."

"I was traveling with someone called The Doctor. He has a spaceship that's also a time machine, so we could travel wherever we wanted." Sometimes the TARDIS picked for them, but that was over-complicating the explanation.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Martha," Sydney said as she let go of her hand, and her eyebrows climbed at the answer to her questions about time travel.

"A spaceship and time machine? That sounds like something straight out a movie," Syd commented. It was a little surreal and she wasn't entirely sure just how true that was.

Still, she was a witch who was flat out in love with a vampire, so it wasn't as though she could judge.

"It does, doesn't it?" She had to agree, though, and she nodded. "I'd have said the same thing a year and a half ago, but now I'd just accept it since I lived it, yeah? But it is a lot to take in at once." Martha's smile was a little sympathetic. "That's sort of what happens when you travel with the Doctor, though. Things you didn't think were possible happen and you learn a lot about the universe." And yourself, though she didn't say that part out loud.

"Here to pick a costume, then?"
