The coding for the environment hadn't been difficult to build. Something simple but cozy. A nice little gazebo with a pleasant brook behind it. Cheesy and horribly cliche, but oddly perfect. Charlie was far from a die-hard romantic, but she had her moments.
Their relationship wasn't conventional. It was complicated much like Charlie's current situation with Church - Horatio - and Tim. She had true feelings for both of them even if one was a tangible human being and the other wasn't. Her Dad was right in that each had their own way of making her feel special. It wasn't that Church couldn't reach out to Charlie's human side, but he understood her position as an artificially intelligent being. More than Tim did, who understood the more human side of her.
As it stood, it was, indeed, complicated.
She sat on the bench under the gazebo, studying her own hands closely. It was still amazing to be able to pull herself from her body into the digital unit. Charlie had coded a dress as promised. Simple in design, coming just to her knees, and off her shoulders, it was slightly dated. Charlie had a thing for "retro" looks.
"You're a few minutes late," she commented with a grin.
